Hi, Can anyone tell me if rear shocks for a 98 or a 99 are different. I know the part number is but I want to know if maybe they just changed the part number or if they are really different in size or length. Thanks, Dain

Same size and length, different (heavier) spring-rate (IS v. Std/Tour).

They are pretty decent shocks when new, but you can't be thinking of paying Honda prices for new, are you?

No, I am not buying new ones. The ones thats are on the bike, one has a small dent and the other has some surface rust but can be hidden when turned. I picked up a pair of 98 ones on Ebay for $43 and just wanted to make sure they fit first. This bike is in really nice shape and just one of the last little details I wanted to take care of. Thanks, Dain

They will fit.

'98's will be for std/tourer, IS did not come along till the following year.

I'd look closely at the shock bushings and replace them if necessary.
