All,

I am pleased to give the information for the PowWow 2013 which will be happening in St. Louis this year.

Saturday's ride (May 25th) will be Riding the River Road from Alton, IL to Grafton, IL.  Before we hit the River Road, we are going to have lunch at Fast Eddies.  We will then catch a couple of River Ferries across first the Illinois River and then the Mississippi River.  We will be having a cookout at our house Saturday evening.  Burgers and Brat with a few sides.

Sunday's ride (May 26th) will be an easy romp through the Missouri Countryside south of St. Louis.  Plans for dinner will come later.

I hope we do a light lunch, at the Triumph Grill .http://www.triumphgrill.com/dinnermenu.html While we tour the St. Louis MOTO Museum. http://themotomuseum.com/ The use of motorcycle memorabella and motorcycle parts as art are pretty neat. I say a light lunch because I know the Hillbilly Royal I'll be dinning on later at Lotawata Creek is freak'n huge.

This sounds like a good time. Will see how the summer schedule works out. We have family up there  so it could be an excuse to head that way.

Had to add some questions because this is the first I've heard of the PowWow.
Is this an annual ride?
If so, how many years has it been going on?
How many bikes usually show up?
Do folks arrive in town early and stay later than the official rides just to hang out?
Thanks for any info you can give.

Edit: Just searched the site ( should have done that first ) and found the answers to the questions.
Sounds like a good time.

This really needs to be bumped up so more folks will know about it.

Do we have a count on who's attending?

Looking forward to riding with the Pow Wow group.   cooldude

Attempt at history

At one time we had a kickass chat room, you could have 20 folks or more in there easily any night
it was under the old format.

Rick (3Wlonerider), Adrian(chrome) and FY98Yankee got together I believe at Rick's in Pa for the first one with their wives/girlfriends

I went up to FY's with Bonnie for the next one and we had an awesome time riding Vermont and New Hampshire
Then Adrian hosted  and a ride up to Lake Huron  among others
Then Rick again (thats when he gave me the 4way flashers THANKS RICK !)
a ride that included Gettysburg
Then I hosted here in Ossining with the host hotel just down the road  Hudson Valley Roads and a trip to Hawks Nest and the Delaware Water Gap led by Bonzo once we got to Chester NY
Then a Powwow in Vermont which coincided with Americade and Gman and I only got to say hi as we were heading into the Adirondacks and Lake Placid, Fathertime led a ride thru Vermont
Adrian hosted again in London Ontario
I cant remember where last year was
Joe is hosting this year in St Louis

I believe 2012's Pow Wow was held near Niagra Falls at Big D's and Lil' D's  home.  Heard it was a great time.   cooldude

All,

We have put in place a forum to help me keep track of who is coming and what shirt sizes you want to order.  Please go to the following link, register, and post when you are coming in town, and what size shirts you want.  You can also post any questions you may have about the event on that forum...but this forum is mostly to capture attendance and shirt sizes.

Thanks,

***bump***

I'd sure like to make this one but so far it doesn't look like it's in the cards...  Undecided

Here's a couple teaser pic's from a trip my son & I made in 2009 in the meantime.

From inside the top of The Arch.

A view of The Mighty Mississip from The Arch. I believe they had helicopter rides down below as we could see them take a fairly short cruise over the river and then touch back down. As I recall they did give a discount off of the price of admission to access The Arch with a National Parks Pass.

We'd made a stop at the Arch, on our trip out to Niagara Falls, specifically to go inside the thing.

Rewind about 30 years earlier. I had 2 weeks vacation so a buddy and I hitchhiked from So Cal to St Louis to see a girl I'd dated a coupla times. Had a great trip out and back, stopping to see the Arch. Found out later you could go inside so it had been on the To Do list for some time. I think my expectations were greater (the girl & the inside of the Arch).  Roll Eyes

This is terrific!  Since I live in ST Louis, I should be there!  :-D  But I will probably not be in the hotel.  Will be nice to meet some of you fine folks.

Hey Joe,
For those of us that live in the St Louis area and won't be staying at the hotel, what time is "stands up" each day for the rides?

In the event our Memorial Day family gathering does not happen that weekend I'll ride down. Won't be able to pre register though.

Actually...due to when the Munganest Museum was open, we had to flip flop the Friday and Saturday rides.  So we will be going to Fast Eddies on Friday and the museum on Saturday.  The Sunday ride is still as planned.  Still hope you can make it for some of the weekend activities.

Hey John...that is interesting...because I didn't leave work until 4:30...and since traffic was already backed on the 270 Parking Lot...I took Page to 141...which was also backed up.  Gotta love big city living when there is road construction.

So now...I wonder who the other black interstate was... Cheesy
