Michigan folks! Meet us at the Shell station in St Ignace on Friday morning the 16th at 9:30....kick-stands up at 10 A.M.
We plan on staying in St Ignace Thursday night. Downstate folks might find that idea particularly appealing.
The distance to Copper Harbor is a little over 310 miles. This is our route with several exceptions. There is a 10-mile detour around the Cut River Bridge and some construction along route 2 around Naubinway. We would have taken 28 instead but there's construction just east of Seney too so we might as well take the scenic route. Plan to be on the road for 8-10 hours or so. We'll gas up in Seney (95 mi), lunch and gas up in Marquette (75 mi) and get gas again in Houghton/Hancock (100 mi). We'll probably arrive in Copper Harbor early evening around 7 or 8 P.M., check in and mosey over to the Mariner North for dinner. Peggy is the owner/manager and has offered us a 10% discount. They're known there for their ribs, fresh fish and pizza. They also have a full bar so plan on a little stroll if you're going to imbibe. Copper Harbor is a very small town so most things are within walking distance; even Manganese falls though it's close to a mile out ("walking distance" is a relative thing...heheh).
Saturday: Grab some breakfast when you get up. Coffee and a muffin at Boreal Beans in the Brockway Inn on the main drag or sit-down at The Pines Resort which opens at 6:30 A.M.. The Keweenaw Mountain Lodge at the golf course opens for breakfast at 8 A.M..

Some folks from farther downstate are planning on heading back Saturday afternoon to chop a hundred miles or two off their Sunday return home. Talk to your chapter members.
