I am not real pleased at what I received from UPS today,. Bay says OEM alternator $288 from Rareelectric in Atlanta. Well it's a Chinese substitute not a Hitachi which is what was in the bike. The green paint ain't even dry yet! I don't know if I should trust it or send it back???? Help?!?!

The altenators that came on our beast use chinese windings. I got a rebuilt from M A R S in Indiana. His rebuilts are rewound with American copper. And i paid less than you did. Enter those letters in your search. M A R S. Hope this helps. RIDE SAFE.

send the Chinese crap back. I got an oem hitachi Japan. I don't know how anyone can say the windings are Chinese all I know this one is made in Japan and is OEM. I got free shipping too. Get the one for the goldwing it's cheaper and the same alternator. You just need to clock it it's really easy. If you need help let me know or ask the y guys you order from they'll tell you how to do it . here's the link http://www.emsglobaldirect.com/product.php?productid=435&cat=17&page=1

Thanks for thread guys. I will bookmark this one to keep the MARS link. That man has his act together by the looks of his site. I would think he is very customer driven. Not to mention his focus appears to be only this model alternator. My money would go to him before sending it off shore. We need to support our home grown ma and pa businesses.

He will be happy to splain you how this came about. And if you think about it-it makes sense when most everything on this motorcycle is damn near bullet proof. Just since i've been here we have had some altenator failures-including mine. The guy at M A R S said when china makes copper wire their percentage of allowable crap in the copper is higher then our percentage of crap. And THAT is the quick down and dirty on the copper wire. Hope this helps you. RIDE SAFE.

1. I had just placed an order with MARS. 2. I think the replacement story was BS. I think they meant to send the Chinese one all along. They aren't advertising either OEM or replacements........just OEM. Why wouldn't you accept the replacement? ??? JP
