My rear brake on the black and silver has never stopped real strong. The rotor is pretty gouged and rough..... prev owner had EBC pads on it. I put new Honda pads on it, but they were getting cutup by the rotor, and still not stopping good. While waiting for pinion parts, I pulled the rear rotor and took it down to my parts place to see if they could turn it down. No way to put it on the machine, so I came home and layed out and cut an adapter out of 3/8in plate. took it back the the parts place, and it worked great! Got the rotor turned down to good finish on both sides, and still have 7.08mm left. Min on the rotor is 6mm... so I should be good for awhile. Took the honda pads and resurfaced them down to good smooth surface.... Hopefully it will work better when it is all back together.

Glad you found a way to save the rotor. They sure ain't cheap! Would love to see the adapter you made because someday I'll likely be doing the same thing and don't have any idea what is needed for a turning machine.

Hotglue: Have you ever disassembled the brake pedal and lubed the pivot? I found this made a HUGE difference to the stopping power of the rear brake. Before you do this, however, give your resurfaced parts a try to see how much of a difference that makes.

I'll get a pic of it and post it. The new rotors are pricey!!!! and if this works out... looks like I will have enough to go at it one more time.. if need be!!!!

Yep I have lubed it up before... hoping this redo will work. Thanks! I will do that again once I have it back together... don't want to mess with the pedal while the rotor is not in the caliper....Thanks

Mark, is it a soft pedal that bothers you?
If so replace the brake lines with braided lines.
That was one of the things I did with MGM way back when Jesus was a baby.
When we Triked it out, those lines had to go, but the kit has some pretty good looking braided hoses. Haven't made a panic type stop with it yet. Want the pads to get broke in 1st.

RJ, the pedal is not soft, it just felt like I was not getting a good friction grab on the brake. kinda like they had oil on em.... but they don't...??? I mostly use the front brakes anyway... but will sure be good to get the back working right!

Mark-when ya get the chance if you would be so kind as to the dimensions of the adapter and photos please. Sounds to me as if you hit upon something that will save Valkyrie riders some loot-and that's ALWAYS a good thing. as usual-T I A. RIDE SAFE.

Have kinfolks here now to help move the mother-in law closer to us so we can take care of her.... It is pretty simple..... I used 3/8 inch plate, put a center punch mark, and drew 3 concentric circles.... One at 3" for the machine hub, one at the center line of the bolt diameter... can't remember the exact number... and one at the outside diameter... around 9.25 inches. center punched for the holes as marked from the rotor, and drilled 'em out. Used a 7/16 drill bit... just a touch bigger than the 8mm bolt. Hand tightened the bolts holding the rotor to the plate and mounted it to the lathe.... turned it, and used soapstone to mark any high spots on the rotor.... tapped the rotor... turn it again and remark until true, and the rotor is centered... tighten the bolts and turn it down. The cool thing was... the shop didn't charge me to turn it down.... they thought it was a cool experiment!!!! This was at our local O'Rileys auto parts...Good Folks!!!!!. if I had all the money I spend at O'Rileys, and Home depot, and the local hardware store...... I'd be set for life..

Stainless braided lines make a huge difference IMHO if you really like a hard pedal/lever.
Ain't cheap though.
