I just received my new Clearview Windshield and have a question for those who have replaced their Tourer windshield with a Clearview. I laid it up over the old, still in it's protective wrap and it appears the holes do not line up. They look off by up to 3/4". Does this kind of layout and fit better when installed? I'm hoping this is kind of an illusion and it will be fine when I get to mounting it? Anyone else have this concern? I hate to open it up from it's wrapping and mess with it and not be able to return it.

Yeah Doug, Tj's right......oh how I hated saying that!!! Leave the covering on it, lay some towels on the kitchen table and start in the middle and work your way toward the outside in both directions. Just get the bolts started but not tight until they're all in place. Then tighten from the center out, little bit at a time. When it's all tight, then remove the covering. It will just leave a layer of it under the metal part which you won't see anyway. At least that's how I did mine.

I just got mine late in the Fall and haven't had a chance to really try it out on the road more than a couple miles, but am looking forward to it.
The holes were a couple mils out of alignment, but like John says, start in the middle and work out. The shield is a lot thicker than stock but there is still some flex to it and you can "coax it" to bend a little to match the holes on the chrome hardware.
I will look into getting longer screws as the new windshield is so much thicker, the nuts on the back side barely catch a couple threads and on my maiden voyage, I lost one on road.

Thanks all. I am riding today and it's cold. My old 17" shield will stay on. I will have down time soon to install my new goodies while the tins are out getting paint.

Plus 1 on the longer bolts, you can get metric chrome at Ace Hardware. Makes it a lot easier. Can you see the windshield in the pic? That's how clear it is. Hoser

Farther, It was in the forties when I left this morning...warmed up real nice though. That's pretty cold for us FP's. I will get the longer bolts, good idea. I have to go through the thicker new shield, my polished stainless "flat-Six" windshield bling and the windshield bag. Thanks all

Vent works very well. Put a hand on the gas filler, you can feel it blowing in, does not leak when closed. A bug will come through once in a while when it's open, usually gets stuck in the vent. Hoser

Is the Clearview the same width as the Honda shield?

They are just slightly wider as I recall and the surround of plastic under the headlight is not there. Other than being thicker than the OEM shield, they are identical. I love mine.

The reason I asked about the width is on their site, they say they are 1" wider. The shield I need to replace is on my modified Std that has a Hoppe fairing. I can't use a windshield that is any wider than stock because of the fairing.

Careful when snugging up the chrome hardware, it will dent/indent if snugged up too tight. I had some fine tuning to accommodate hole alignment also when replacing my stock shield on my standard. As mentioned, the shield is a bit thicker. I had to pick up some slightly longer bolts because I have the Formotion Clock and Thermo mounted to the inside bolts between the gauges. Someone else mentioned a bug coming through the vent. I had a yellow jacket come through the vent on my Interstate. After coming through the shield, he was tinkering around inside the fairing and I was just waiting for him to break loose and cling to me. This was at speed so was not the most shoo friendly conditions...

I can't use a windshield that is any wider than stock because of the fairing.Steve K, I replaced my original shield when I got the Hoppe fairing, and ordered the Clearview HON-VK0P, in the light grey tint. The 'Sport' hight (4" shorter than stock) looks way better (IMO) with the Hoppe fairing. The OEM size/hight looks too tall, when paired with the Hoppe. The width of the 'Sport' shield must be close to original, because I have about 1/2"+ on each side, when mounted in the Hoppe. Gimme a call, if ya need me to make some measurements. You've seen my bike, but here is a pic - Black Dog
