Sitting here prepairing my maintenance list for this spring, it has been a few years, the old girl does not get the attention that she used to get since the camper and the boat came along.  Going to do oil change, final drive, clutch and brake fluids, and coolant. What prompted my title question is last year one of my fork seals were leaking, but then after a few hundred miles it stopped, it may come back this spring, but I will have to wait and see.  Some  years ago I put in Progressive springs so she got new seals at that time.  Could the lack of use be the culprit and make them stiff and then riding loosened them up again?  I have read about the negative film trick, how exactly is this procedure preformed?  I will get new sealing washers for the drain plugs for the oil, final drive, and coolant along with a final drive fill plug o ring.  I want to inspect the brake pads, spark plugs, crankcase breather, and the K & N air filter.  Is there anything you think I missed?  I also need a new battery!  We are planning a little longer trip this year so I thought I better get dialed in.  Iam trying to put together my shopping list so anything I cannot get locally I will put together a Internet order.

Thanks

some new shock bushings might be in order...and you didn't mention replacing vacuum lines, intake plugs, and intake o-rings.

I have done the shock bushings once, but I do have another set, so I may do them. Iam desmogged so the vacuum lines should be good.  Did the intakes once too.  Intake plugs, a little unsure of what this would entail or did my desmog cover this too?  I feel kind of bad, I used to over maintain my Valk back in the day, I used to be able to remember everything I needed to do, now I have spent most of the day with my nose in the service manual and on this site on the iPad!

the desmog removed your vacuum lines from PAIR valve to intakes 3 and 4....unless you permanently plugged the intake nipples (used for synching the carbs), then you should have at least 5 vacuum caps on them (6 if you removed the petcock vacuum line).  These tend to crack and leak too...
