Fellow riders,
I just swapped out the four standard bulbs that lit the instrument panel on my 2000 Interstate for the green LEDs purchased at superbrightleds.com. Anyone know how to get at the bulb for the odometer?
Thanks, steve

You have to access the inside of the fairing and take loose the instrument cluster if I remember correctly.
There ought to be instructions for that specific item in the manual.

Couldn't find it in the service manual nor any reference to the bulb in the exploded parts diagrams on HDLPARTS.COM.

There is another thread right here regarding taking loose the fairing.
Seems I had to then remove (take loose) the instrument cluster to get to the back of it. That is the white plastic part I think.
Then you will see the bulb holders plugged into the printed circuit board. i think you turn them to get them out. Not really sure so be careful not to bugger it up.
Big thing is to be careful and go slow, be sure of what you are doing.
Screwing up the instrument dash could be very expensive.
And I would suggest replacing all the instrument light bulbs when you are in there.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. The four bulbs I replaced with the LEDs are underneath their rubber caps you see at the back of the display housing. But where do I get at the fifth bulb that illuminates the odometer? Right now, I've got a nice green light for my radio and instrument clusters but a yellow light for my odometer. What to do?

I just had the meter panel apart to see if there was another bulb; there wasn't. I believe the entire odometer display is an lcd display, and haven't a clue as to how the background color could be changed...

The odometer display is most likely illuminated by an internal source of which you would have to disassemble the odometer cartridge to access.
All the available lights for the instrument panel you have already seen.
That's probably the long and short of it.

Searched for a bit, no luck. What size are the dash bulbs, and what LED replaces them? Fred.

Does the single brighter led bulb on top work better than the 3 led bulb? Has any one tried both to see which diffuses light all around the instrument panel? 3 smaller 3528 LED bulb 5050 LED on top
