any one tell me where you get the frount saddle bag guard to attach the mc saddle bag guard rails for valkyrie interstate since it did not come with this bar? I have the OEM knock-off Saddlebag Guard Rails from ebay and am happy with them. I have looked at the MC rails and have wondered how they attach to the bike at the front of the saddlebags. Is something extra required? Or do they attach to something that is already there?

They attach to the top of the shock and the bottom saddleback support with a longer bolt. (furnished with the ebay bags) If they didn't suppy the bolts, ace hardware has them, they are, of course metric. assemble the guards and take a long look at it, you should see it then. Mine did not come with directions, shouldn't need them if you look it over good. The ones that on ebay right now is assembled, but they are illustrated upside down. Good luck. Hoser

They attach to the top of the shock and the bottom saddleback support with a longer bolt. (furnished with the ebay bags) Maybe I was not clear. I was talking about the MC Enterprises rails #474-13 Saddlebag Trim Rails (GL1500-C Valkyrie Tourer 1997-2003 and Interstate 1999-2001). According to the picture, they wrap around the back of the bags and fender. On the sides, they go forward with no obvious way of attaching. The bottom side rail comes up to meet the top rail at the front but according to the picture they seem not to be attached at the front. What is missing?

Don't know nuthin about those bags rails, the ones I have are just like oem rails. If they hold anywhere near the present bid, they will be a bargain. I won mine at 217 bux, and was lucky to get them at that. Hoser

I have the OEM type (knock0offs) also. Bought them off of ebay about 1 1/2 years ago. They have held up pretty good. The ebay account name for the people selling them has changed a number of times, but they seem to always be in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Must be a big family.
I originally looked at the MC Enterprises rails but could not see how they attached at the front.
I had the OEM rails on my first Valk years ago and was a little leary about the knock-offs but they seem to be ok. They do not always fit properly but with a little tweaking, they are ok.
The question asked by mustang071965 has not been answered. Anybody have the answer?

The pic for the M/C rails is misleading. I have them and there is a bracket that attaches to the support under the saddlebags in the front. They were cheaper than the factory rails at the time I bought them but they are not as sturdy as the factories either. Pretty but not strong. The OEM's would probably survive a layover a whole lot better. With the price of the knock off OEM's right now I would try and buy those first over the M/C's. My .02

Why not go ahead and put the ones you had before, on your interstate. Much better than those ones you have a picture of. You already know how to mount them. They are much nicer than the ones you posted, IMHO. They are at 175 bux with 8 hrs to go. I suspect they will go higher. Just post your limit and see if anyone can catch up. If they don't go higher you will get them for whatever the bid is when it closes. Hoser
