If you trust the bike to just about anyone then Uship may be fine. Have you ever watched Shipping Wars? I won't be using them. On the other hand there's http://www.haulbikes.com/. They are pros and I've had good luck with them.

Rent a storage unti and ride it home when it is warmer.  It may be cheaper.

Dropbox is a neat app I found that I use to store files and pictures of my Valk.

that's some good advice....and ditto on watching shipping wars before hiring a rookie shipper.

I had my 3 bikes shipped from Wisconsin to NJ for $1200 with Allied-Federal motorcycle shipping and all 3 arrived without a scratch.  They were professional motorcycle shippers and I got an AMA discount when I used them.

Sorry I am late

Haulbikes shipped my valk from seattle to ossining ny for 550  it was another 50 for the no deductible which I paid
you cant ride the valk for that price if you include meals and a place to sleep for 3 or 4 nights
extremely happy  the driver had his own wing on the 2 level truck very professional but they dont bust their ass getting there quickly   just safely  and that was FINE WITH ME
