Does the crash bar have to be removed to remove the exhaust from the bike?

I was looking at the Valk today and it appeasr I may have to remove the crash bars to facilitate the removal of the exhaust.

Anyone have a definitive answer for me?

Thank you in advance...

I've completely removed mine without touching the guards.

Cool, thanks Valker!

About to install the 36" truck stacks with the Rex Marine silencer inserts on it... Piggies gone & rear bafffles are cut out. Front baffles are  not drilled & uncut. Little too loud for my "Squeeze", she has fibromyalgia and the loud drone gets to her at times when her fibro is acting up. The right tailcone had abrasions on it when I bought it and teh heat shield chrome is spotting with rust. Must be time...

Hey OB...You have to remove the rear bolt on the engine guards to be able to remove the pipes from the bike.  There is a spacer that comes out when you remove the bolt and you will be able to get the pipes out.  You do not have to remove the entire engine guard.

You won't be disappointed with the silencers. I've had mine in for over 5000 miles now and they work great. The drone is gone.  http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,40398.msg381975.html#msg381975

JoeValk is absolutely right about that. I just went out and crawled under mine. One bolt, spacer falls out. So easy I'd forgotten about that. Sorry I told you wrong. uglystupid2

Thanks guys... I figured out the bolt & spacer. I also took the shift lever of, and the heel-toe sifter mechanism... Just one thing went wrong, one of the studs had come out of the head instead of teh cap nut coming loose. I will separate the two now that the exhaust is off, put the stud back in the head before I remount the exhaust.

The right tailcone had abrasions in it. A couple of dents in the right header pipes where someone had laid it down at some point. The chrome on teh headears not to good.... I will try polishing them up... May look at using some hearder paint on them. Any suggestions?

+1 what Chillerman said.  My pipes were Ragnar cut (piggies gone and baffles gutted).  The drone messed with my tinnitus something terrible.  The only time it didn't bother me was if I rode without a helmet in full wind.......and then the wind noise drove me nuts.

If I rode behind a windshield, or with a helmet that covered my ears, the drone was horrible.

I've hade my Rex Marine silencers in since last year.  Those, a set of 18" Airflow extensions and a set of Grumpy's tips and the drone is gone.

I highly recommend adding a set of the Grumpy's tips.

The idea is to disrupt that exhuast note as much as possible before it exits the rear of the exhaust.  A set of Grumpys tips finishes the exhaust extensions nicely, plus it adds to the airflow disruption.  Big Bore Grumpy's work great on mine, but a set of the Small Bore tips would work even better.

I installed the Rex Marine silencers just behind the Grumpys.

btw.......The exhaust still has a very nice exhaust note to it.......not stock quite, but not loud either.....just a nice growl without the loudness and drone.
