My boy and I are heading to Gettysburg next Wednesday for three nights.  We will be camping at the Roundtop campground.  I modded the HF trailer with a longer toung and mounted a cooler.

Heres a closeup

and some more

I left room between the boxes for the tent, my campfire grate, sandwitch cookers, and a couple of chairs

How much did you add and how did you do it? Any other Mods?

When I changed the tongue on one of my trailers, I went to a Machine (Welding) shop and had him cut me one from some square stock.....

Drilled the holes and mounted it.  I forgot the original length I started with, but in an attempt to make it pull better, I trimmed 6" at a time till I got to where I liked the way it pulled. The tongue I added, was also mounted to the back cross plate and every cross plate under the trailer frame forward...

I think I ended up with about 4' added when done.

Would I do it again, I doubt it unless I had nothing else to do.......  It was a (1) pain taking it apart, (2) putting it together, (3) going for a run, come back and repeat the last 3 statements till satified.......

This is the trailer before I started.  Stock length here.  WAY WAY too short.

Good job, I love the his and hers boxes.  I think I added about 18 inches to mine when I did it.  Now all you have to do is find someway to keep a little space in the his box for your stuff. Grin

a little over 4 feet.  I got a new length of box steel 6 feet long, so its not quite 2 ft longer than stock.  The piece for the toung and the angle iron for the cooler mount was $27 at the local steel supply yard.  The way the trailer sits, I have about $550 in it, not counting the cooler, which I had on hand. cooldude

I guess I missed the point !! I also have a HF trailer, Why are you lengthening the main tube on the trailer?

The Original tongue  is to short to mount a cooler on.  It's also alot easier to back up when I pull it with my HHR.  The trailer also trails better over rough pavement
