..this Saturday for burgers at the Greenwood Grocery & Grill?

If there's enough interest, I'll plan and post a route.  (Actually, it's mostly done already.)

I know you are serious about this ride Jimmy, we could take the scenic route, Beaumont, Houston, Austin, Fredericksburg, Brady, to Greenwood, 574 miles, eat fast, get back home sometimes Sunday. LOL

I'm up for it. My carbs are gummed up so will dump in more seafoam or Berryman's and just ride it clean.  Just haven't been able to ride.

Sounds good to me.  Let's hope the good forecast beats the wet one.

Sure is close, though...   Cheesy

Well Jimmy, we could get up early and spend all day riding (if I don't have to work).  Hell, I don't even know where Greenwood is. If it was Sunday, I could spend two  days getting there on the Ural.

Hell, I don't even know where Greenwood is

Found a Greenwood, TX near Midland and a Greenwood, LA just south of I20 across the state line. Both are likely to far from DFW's Metromess. So where is this place VP?

It's northeast of Decatur and northwest of Slidel, just north of TX 51.  Hard to find on either a map or Google earth.

Disco, BnB and I stopped in Krum one day for a quick R&R at THE gas station.  Two fellow riders were there and they were headed to Greenwood for lunch.  We moseyed that way with them and marked the spot for future use.

It's...quaint.

I smell four so far (VP, RM, Disco, Westsider), with a hint of 5-19 wafting in the breeze, and some vague aroma of "maybe" tickling the nostrils.

Weather permitting, I think we'll bottle and sell this potion.

Almost, but not exactly.  I asked if you wanted to lead a ride to the Stockyards.   Wink  Since you can't and I just led one there not long ago, I thought I'd offer an alternative.

BTW, I think Greenwood will be a ride-destination we repeat.

VP,

I plan to join but I maybe on my Shadow if I don't get my turn signal fixed tonight.

You know another cool place to ride by and make a quick stop is the Rosston Store.  It has been open since 1879.  Here is a link with pics.

Starting point, time? Arrival estimate?

Just fingered it out...

KSU at the Prairie House on 380 for Disco and Big Ed (Ed's a 'maybe') at 0930.  They'll motivate to my house.

KSU at my house for Thag & Hollyday, Disco, Big Ed (maybe) @ 1000.  We'll transit to Justin.

Meet up with Rainmaker, Six Guns, Sidecar, Westsider @ 1030 at the corner of 156 and 407 eastbound.

Head for Greenwood by a meandering route.

Arrive Greenwood around 1130.

Depart Greenwood after lunch by another meandering route to Bolivar.  At this point, I plan to head east on 455 through Sanger, across the lake and points west to 377 via St John road, which takes us past some pretty impressive horse ranches.  After that, we can continue to 455 east out of Pilot Point or head south to get everyone home.

So basically, the first half of the ride is pretty solidly planned.  After Bolivar we can freeform it.

Baron, let me know your meet up location of choice.  Anyone going I haven't mentioned, ditto.  If anyone I've mentioned wants to change their meetup, double ditto.

PM me if you need my address.

Thanks for plotting the ride, Valkpilot - it was great to be back out on the Valk.  Almost blew out all the crud in the carbs, but still need to do another tank of brew to get all the pops out.

Thanks to those who noticed I had no taillights.  I'm happy to report the temp fix I applied worked and I am repairing the broken wire today.  Probably from not riding for 2 months during the wife's recovery from hip replacement.  She's back driving now so I'm going to be doing a lot of riding to makeup for the time missed.

Here is a shot of the intrepid bunch (I'm taking the pic) at the Greenwood Grocery.  This is truly one of those "hole in the wall" places that you won't find unless you know where it is.  Very much off of the beaten path.

The burger patties are about an inch and a half thick before cooking.  Ordering a double burger is only advised for the very, very hungry biker:
