I'm ready to run the fat girl after doing some carb work and desmogging her.  :cooldude:Have you ever run a Valk without the air box and tank mounted?
Seems it might run lean without any air restriction. Wouldn't run it long just see if all is well before finishing the project up.
Thanks for any help.

I started my old Datsun pickup truck after rebuilding the carb, but before
putting the air-filter canister and stuff back on. It barely ran, I figured I'd
really screwed it up. It was good-to-go for another 100,000 miles after I
put the air filter canister back on, though...

Don't know about Valkyries...

Search the forum about air box modifications... With the exception of a very few cases it improved, almost everybody else ended up having to purchase an OEM airbox again. There are better options for getting a few extra ponies than messing with the airbox. My 2 cents anyway.

I don't think he intends to run it permanently this way.  It sounds like he just wants to be sure it runs before going to the trouble of mounting the airbox and tank.

CA, thanks for your advice.
Valkpilot, that's right , I do not want to run it for more than a minute or two and it's only to see if all the work that was done is right. I'd rather find a problem now than after the air box and tank are back on the bike.
Thanks for the feedback.

It will be fine just running it to finish up your tuning/adjustments (wont be very accurate) and or verifying she still fires up.

Sounds funny as all hell with the sliders slapping up and down, but it looks kinda neat seeing them slap up and down.

For proof that I really ran it without the airbox,,,, LOL!

Doesn't hurt a thing. Will run but won't run right. You can at least confirm that u r firing on all cylinders.
