Went in to pick up my Tourer up from the dealer who was doing a 15K valve check, and general tune up before going to Colorado here in a few weeks. I am no wrench, guys.Anyway I go in getting ready to pay through the nose, because that is what I do. He pipes up I saved something to show you.

I picked this bike up in October out of Utah with 14K miles on it. It is in excellent condition. It seemed to run OK.

Anyway I got a mouse nest on top of my air cleaner with a departed mouse included. They had not chewed through the filter. Could you imagine getting sucked through the intake. Makes you shudder!

Anyway got it out on the road this evening for an absolutely beautiful ride. Damn that things runs a hell of lot better with out the mouse.

Hey Roomie!!!

Glad to hear you got your mouse removed.

I worked on mine yesterday.  Adjusted the lifters, sync'd the carbs, and tightened the exhaust nuts.  I haven't ridden her yet but she sounded happier in the Garage.  Cheesy

Adjusted the lifters?
Tightened the exhaust nuts?

I was under the assumption that our bikes cams ride directly on the valves.
I've always used a torque wrench to ensure that the exhaust nuts were neither too loose nor too tight.

 Mouse Nest.

I had the same happen to me a few years back in winter. I had it sitting for 2 months and took it for a ride on a cold January  day. Ran rough....took the tank off and there was a nice little nest with nuts and all for the winter. It ran great after the "eviction".

The Valks have a solid lifters and adjuster screws on the rocker arms to set the tension.  This is on the valve side...not the cam side.
