DS-0009 ...... # 173

Des Moines, IA

« on: June 21, 2009, 11:34:40 AM »

My youngest daughter and her oldest daughter made this for me.

It is all flat pieces of wood, that have to be glued together to shape the bike.

It looks very time consuming to me....

They had to glue all the pieces together and I did not see one drop of glue showing...   I commend them for their work and patience....

I'm debating as to whether to get a can of clear and spray it so it doesn't get soiled by little greasy fingers. well big ones also....

Yeah, I know, the side stand is on the wrong side, but that is the way the instructions showed them how to do it.  Valarie tried to get it on the other side but it would not fit.   Must be China made.......   LOL........   tickedoff 2funny coolsmiley

How can ya not love them for this?    It is precious to me...  In fact, I'd like to put it in a shadow box if I could get one that big....

Them girls done just fine !!   cooldude  Gitcha some scrap wood and try a few coats of "Tru-Oil" gunstock oil by Birchwood Casey.  You just might be surprised at the finish it'll give ya.

Here's how it came out on my American Flat Bow I made.  Argentine Osage, backed with Bamboo and a Bocote riser.  It chrono'd at 188 fps after being warmed up (will try it "cold" next time, should shoot faster).  Not bad for an all wood longbow.  Oh yeah... the user of the holy black layin' alongside it is my latest acquisition... an 1858 New Army in .44 replica by Pietta.

Very Very proud.  She was my passenger on the lower 48 states a couple of times..   Once on the Valk and the other time it was between a Yamaha Venture and a Gold Wing.

When I croak, her and her brother both want the Chevy Trike, and they want to share the Valkyrie.  I'm glad I won't have to listen to the argument on this one...... coolsmiley tickedoff 2funny
