Harbor freight sells two cheap tire changers.  One they call a portable tire changer, good for rims starting at 8 inches: http://www.harborfreight.com/portable-tire-changer-69686.html

And one they call a mini tire changer, good for rims up to 12 inches:  http://www.harborfreight.com/mini-tire-changer-34552.html

Wondering if anyone has first hand info on either?  I'm thinking the "portable" that starts at 8 inches will be just a tad too large.

They are referring to rim diameter, not width, so the portable would be the one you need.

Unfortunately, last I knew, they no longer offered the motorcycle wheel adaptor.

Thanks for the clarification.  How does the adapter work?  Is it something that can be cobbled together?

I have the portable tire changer. I also have the motorcycle attachment for it. I beefed up a pallet and mount it to that when I need to change a tire. I use it for both autos and motorcycles. cooldude

The Harbor Freight tire changer was discussed a couple of weeks ago. If you will search Harbor Freight tire, it will pull up the thread with most of the info you need.

Thanks!  Looks like I'll probably get one after all now.

I've had the HF tire changer and the motorcycle adapter for years.  Has saved me a LOT of money.  Plus I can easily change tires myself pretty quickly.  Like if I took off a tire because it doesn't have enough rubber left for a big trip.  Then put it back on later to use it up on local riding.  I don't balance them anymore, having gone to Ride-On instead.  Dynamic balancing works much better, plus the benefit of preventing most puncture flats.
