I'm changing the brake pads on the front of my IS and can't get the pin plug out. I've changed the pads before and don't remember any problems but now the plug wont come out.  I've spayed WD-40 on it and used a large flat blade screw driver but i"m just tearing the slot up.  Any suggestions how to get the plug out?  Thanks.

same thing happened to me a few weeks ago

bought an impact driver and still didnt help

a member also suggested a mix of nail polish remover and automatic transmission fluid to loosen it up

also a heat gun may help, turn to tighten a bit and you may break loose when you loosen

In my case a member sent me a rebuilt caliper and I am just swapping calipers out when the crush washer comes in from honda directline (# 22 on the parts fische) and will consider nuclear weapons next

Use something a little more suited for bolt loosening than WD40 like PB Blaster. Also tap on the plug with a small hammer before trying to back the plug out. Otherwise you might try the old drill & EZ out method. When it happened to my Valk I just tack welded a 1/4 bolt to the plug with my MIG welder & it came right out. Combo of the heat from the weld & the positive grip from the bolt did it.

Has happened to me a few times on different bikes, bought an Impact Driver a while back and found it great. If that don't work heat it up gently with a heat gun and then use the Driver. Good luck.

That's happened to me twice, both times I drilled and easy-outed them.  Now all of them have anti-seize and I don't crank then in.

A proper fitting screwdriver is a must for this particular operation.

A dedicated tool is good mechanical practice.

WD-40 is not a good choice for this as has been previously stated.

And again, an anti-seize is good preventive maintenance.
