What Is The Proper Procedure For..............

cleaning the fork seals? I know you use a film negative, but what is the proper procedure? I had a leaker last year for a couple of rides, but then it stopped. I just want to be prepared this spring. I replaced the fork seals 5 or 6 years ago when I put Progressive springs in, I put the springs in back then because the seals were leaking.
Thanks-
Scooby

I tried the Sealmate and the film negative. The negative worked better because it's thinner. Just
push the dust seal down with a screwdriver out of the way. Slide the film up under the seal 1-2 inches and move it up and down while walking it around the fork tube. Some oil will leak making it
hard to hold the film. After a go around or two wipe up the oil on the tube. Now comes the exercize!
You have to move the tubes up and down pumping the front end by pushing down on the handlebars. Do about 20 pumps and wipe up any leak. Keep doing this a few times until the leak stops. Worked great for me. Hope for you too.

I had a chronic leaker.
Walmart sells thin disposable plastic cutting mats. I carved a tool which looks similar to the one in the video, and it worked great. Did the procedure described in the video and the leak stopped. (It took a few rides/days before it totally ceased)
