I'm guessing my starter relay went out on me?  tickedoff Just needing someone to confirm my suspicions. I'm not that great on electrical.  Was riding today and everything stopped working on her. Had to wait over an hour for a tow truck  Sad

Did your tachometer quit first? If so, I suspect the charging system.

I didn't notice, was just trying to coast out of the busy intersection at the time. Everything did go dead at the same time. Was reading through some old posts, so will also check the 30amp fuse also in the morning.

Also , check your battery. I lost all electrical power on a trip. Stopped for gas..... went to restart and there was nothing. My battery went from fully functional to ZERO power in a second.
Good luck.

Just happened to me last week. Starter relay went out. Honda shop wanted 90 dollars plus tax. Exact relay on Amazon.com for 10.50 and free shipping. Saved over 80 bucks. It is the one sold by Caltric. Recieved in 3 days. cooldude   Here is the link for the relay.           www.amazon.com/Starter-Solenoid-GL2003/dp/B007473OWI/ref=pd_rhf_ee_p_t_4_S9RB1500-Valkyrie-1997-

Probably overheated wiring harness at the 30A fuse.  Check for charring and bad connection.

I'm sure you've already rocked the kill switch back and forth a few times?

Pull the right side cover, find the big rubber boot, peel it back and see if the connector has melted.   It has a fuse in one side of it.

Mine went but it would still roll the engine over.

When you say you lost all power, I'd almost bet it is the alternator died and run the battery down.

Try jumping it with your NON-runing car/truck.    If it starts check the alternator for how much alternator juice you are getting.   It should be in the neighborhood of 14.0 - 14.3.   Anything less the alternator is toast.

Let us know what ya find.

How old is your battery? The very same thing happened to me last year. Jump your bike with a fresh car battery(make sure car is not running) and if it starts, problem solved.

Problem solved?

You have 2 factors here.

Gone South battery.

Gone South Alternator.

I don't think problem solved till you identify one of the above.

Cheers.       RJ

I pulled the 30 amp fuse and it was blown. Replaced it and the bike seems fine now. Don't know if I have a short somewhere that made it blow or because It was the original fuse that was just old. have extras in my saddle bag just incase. Went for a short drive about 40 or 50 miles and everything seems fine so far.

Good to hear you got her going. If you have any aftermarket accessories wired up, make sure they are wired correctly.

Similar thing happened to me, because I had wired up a stereo system incorrectly.

Ride safe! Carry your extra starter solenoid with you in a saddle bag. It's good practice to carry small electrical parts. They tend to go bad without warning.

Thanks Bocephus for the link. I ordered one to carry with me. Things don't break if you have the spare part on the bike Smiley  Free shipping is cheaper than finding a dealer.
