I have broken my CB antenna twice in past year.  No idea how it happens, just part of it disappears between gas stops.

Decided to try the newer, shorter CB antennas.

Problem, new antenna has a male base, 5/16" thread.  Base on bike is also male base but with, I believe, an 8mm thread.  I need to find and/or make an adapter between the two thread types.

Has anyone else come across this difficulty and what might you have found to solve the problem?

Any major brand truck stop will have what you need so will Radio Shack. Most of the the larger truck stops will also have a CB repair shop that sells and repairs CB's . The tech could check out SWR's etc and should'nt cost you more than $10.00 and its makes a big improvement on performance.

I had the same dilemma as far as losing the top part of the antenna..... twice. If you decide to go with the OEM (or same as OEM) once again, just loosen the allen screw for the top part, put a tiny dab of JB Weld in the hole and put the top antenna back in. Tighten down the allen screw... never a problem since.

My problem was that both times the antenna snapped off.   Once about 1" above the base and the second time was about 3" above the black coil.

I have already tried Radio Shack, they carry next to nothing for CB's any more.

Go check out the largest truck-stop near you they will have a wall full of CB accessories.
