I am doing the basic maint on the final drive and have decided to replace the u-Joint as well.
All Spines look good and nothing shows any wear.
Replacing the U-joint was interesting to say the least.  But managed to get it removed and back in without too much cussing.

My question is the dampers (Gary’s Dampers) give about a 1/16 of an inch play.  They are about 3 years 40k old.  I have a new set from Gary and was not sure if I should replace them now or wait for another season to pass.  I ride it like I stole it!!

Oh and I found a $200 nail in the rear tire.  Those nails are expensive.  I have had success with ride on before, but the nail is to the side of the tire.  I have not had success with ride on when the nail is that far out.
Any input on the Dampers and the nail, or where to get an Avon for a good price would be appreciated.
TIA Gregg

If I had a new set of dampers I would install them.  Every 4 years is not bad.  I always change a tire if it gets a nail.  I know others will disagree, but I err on the side of caution.  I have a plug kit to get me home if necessary.

replacing the dampers and the tire gets my vote too.

I have a new Avon cobra rear tire in the garage in the original shipping packaging from HDL that I will sell for $150 shipped (guessing about $30 to ship it which is free to you).  I bought it a few years ago and haven't ridden the bike due to back surgery.

Let me know if you're interested via PM.
