Hey guys, has anyone ever tried to mount the VTX 1800 Kuryakyn chrome lower fork covers on a Valk before? Does anyone know the main differences between the two? I know the Valk covers have 2 attachment locations and the VTX has 3. But looks like in the pics between the two, that maybe with a little modification the VTX covers could be made to fit the Valk? If I had a VTX cover in hand it would be easy to tell if they would work but I don't. So just wondering if anyone had ever tried this or explored the possibility?

I've seen a Valkyrie with Chrome covers on the forks, made the forks look like they
were chrome. I believe they were VTX covers, and the owner made them work on
his Valkyrie. I thought they looked properly fitted, not rigged in any way. Probably belonged to
Larry or Curt from Virginia, but I'm remembering this from a conversation from three or so years ago  Wink

If I'm not mistaken, I think he means the skins for the lower part of the fork, covering just the portion below the slider.

I was curious about the VTX ones as well but, although I couldn't find any definitive information, I'm pretty sure they won't fit. Spent almost a year looking for some Valkyrie ones and just last month came across a brand new pair in a box that were mislabeled by the seller. Scooped them up on eBay for $99. Saw a new pair go on eBay two weeks before for over $400 and then a used set for $385. They don't come up very often and when they do, they're expensive as hell. Guess I just lucked out.

Yes, I am talking about the lower covers. I would think there is someone out there that has both a VTX and a Valk that has looked into trying this. The used ones I have seen come up for sale seem way overpriced.  Undecided

Glad I already have mine. Cool as they are, I'm not sure I could part with that kind of coin.

for 125 bucks plus shipping you could have grumpy polish your whole fork tubes and even though i have the covers you are talking about if i had my tubes polished i dont think i would put them back on afterwards also the honda chrome  is not the best but better than most cobra products the covers do tend to pit a bit after time even if kept polished on a regular basis the caliper covers made by show chrome do the same thing due to them being up front and talking any road debris head on

When you do the front VTX fender mod, the chrome deflectors and fender brackets are all from the VTX. Below are the directions I followed from Quexpress to do it to my 97 Valk.

I had the Honda Covers.  I liked them, they looked great.
I polished my forks and sold the covers.  No need for them after I polished the forks.
I say Polish your forks and been done with it.
You get a cleaner look, and it changes the overall appearance of the front of the bike.
Easy to clean and I polish them about once maybe twice a year.
