Hi Just wanted to introduce myself, I am M61AMECH from Florida, got that name because I was a 20mm gun plumber in the Air Force. I do not ride a Valkyrie,  I am riding a Yamaha Royal Star Venture.

I started making auxillary brake /tail / turn light harnesses for Royal Stars about a year ago to help folks out by making the connection for trailers or extra lights easy and quick without having to T-Tap  into the bikes wires. On the Royal Stars and all Yamahas it is easy because there is one plug/receptacle that connects the main harness to the fender harness and it is normally right under the seat. My harness plugs into those connectors and has "tag" wires soldered on that allows you to butt splice in the trailer harness, isolator or just more lights if you want.

Here is a link to a sample of what I make for the Royal Stars so you can see what I am talking about.
http://s40.beta.photobucket.com/user/royalsteve/media/Brake%20and%20tail%20light%20harness/DSC_0183.jpg.html?sort=3&o=4

Recently I was asked by a fellow over on the Delphi trailer forum if I could make a harness for his Valkyrie, after doing a bit of poking around I was refered to your forum in the hope that someone here could help me identify the connectors I would need to build a similar harness for a Valkyrie. I have looked at a schematic and it looks like Honda uses two different plug/receptacles one for the turn signals and one for the brake and taillight circuit. So maybe I need to make two harnesses for each valkyrie.

So what I am asking for are photos of the connectors in question to help me identify them and find a source wher eI can buy them, also a pin out with wire color and function verse location in the connectors would be very helpful.

Any help would be appreciated, you can PM me at stevemarilyn@hotmail.com

If there already is  a set up for this that you can tell me about I will also pass that on to my fellow over on Delphi Trailer forum.

Thanks, Ride safe

There is only one actual plug/connector that I am aware of and that is under the rear fender where the rear portion connects to the front portion. The other connections are simple bullet type connections on each wire where the wiring bundle goes into the rear fender at the rear of the battery compartment under the seat. Why not check out your guys Valk and see what you think?

Steve, too bad you're not a little closer to me, I'd be glad to help out. I'm in Winter Park so it's not real convenient. The connector Denny47 refers to has wires that lead to connections under the right side cover and I do believe you could make a harness that would work off that point. It would involve a short harness that plug into where those leads plug in, would require male bullets on the front end and female on the back end for the current wires to plug in. But, you also need to splice in an extra wire off each one with female bullets. That would allow the trailer wiring to plug into it for turn signals, run and brake lights.

That's the involved method. The easy method is to simply pick up a Hoppy converter and devise an easy method of plugging it in for the guy with the Valk.

Shoot me a PM and I'll give you my phone #.

There are 2 different wire harness, one for the Interstate and another for the standard/Tourer.

I can't remember if they come off the same main wire harness connector or not. I believe they do. The IS connector Y's off of that, then splits to the trunk and the tail lights. The std/T models come straight off.

vintageconnectors.com have the connectors. Honda uses the 3.5mm bullet connectors, NOT the 4mm ones.
