Had a chance to get the phat gurl up over 80mph on a long stretch of slab.  Was running behind a Mercedez up to 100mph.  When I would let off the throttle (no brakes) the Valk felt like I was riding on a rumble strip.  Below 80, I don't experience this vibe.

Now that being said, I have a 99 I/S with about 58K miles.  Since I purchased her, I've only put about 1k on it.

My first thougts are drive shaft, or u-joint issues.  Any thoughts or similar experiences out there?

That is certainly a common symptom of a bad u-joint.

did you hear anything or was it a feeling from the front end?

My u joint gave a chattering noise in 4th when I let off the throttle

Order a ujoint, someday you will need it and better to have it in the saddlebag then
to wait a week or more on the road for a new one to arrive

do you have any cupping on the tires?  I doubt its the tires though

Do a complete spline service and drive shaft u joint inspection before any long trip

Just my opinion

New to you bike, good time for a rear end service and inspection of the u-joint.

Like mentioned, better now than on the road somewhere.

Not the tires. They are wearing fine, replaced the rear 1,000 miles ago with CT, but didn't get into the drive train as the splines were well lubed.  I rebuilt the front forks with Progressive springs and replaced the rear shocks with Progressives 416 air.  Yeah I know should have done the drive train when I did the rear wheel but didn't know better then.  Looks like I should just go ahead and get into the drive train while the weather is still a little cool.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions on the u-joint.  I'll order one and have it on hand when I tear her down.
