At 13597 miles i'm going to change it out. I might could get anothe 400 or 500 miles out of it but with another weather change moving in tonight-i'd rather pull it to tonight get the new Dunny 404 130-90-17 mounted so i can ride when it gets REALLY nice thursday. The tire has given me excellent service. I never did get to run it in a rain storm at all.  Lips Sealed I have run in the aftermath of a rain storm on very wet pavement and ZERO issues in the wet. This Shinko handeled as well as the Metz 880 i had BUT handled-at least to me better than the Elite-3 i had. This is MY OPINION only and was arrived at by actually riding all 3 tires for whatever their respective tire life was. I have nothing to gain or lose but here are my figures.
    Dunlop E-3 came with the M/C 7508 miles-never again
    Metzler 880 14454 miles-faulty guage ran at 60 P S I YES would buy again-spendy
Shinko S E 890 13597 miles YES would buy again-good price per mile.
The reason i won't have another E-3 it got WAY more than interesting in the rain MORE than once. And once or three times a little hiccup/washout/butt puckering moment in the twistys with the E-3. THOSE things will make you lose confidence in a tire. The Metz and the Shinko DID NOT exhibit those nasty traits on the same roads. Confidence level running neck and neck for the Metz and the Shinko. These are totally MY experiences with the aforementioned tires and i hope this will help someone here.  cooldude And i have been known to drag a peg now and then BUT nowhere near spark producing as some of our other members.  2funny And i might add-ya'll know who you are.  Wink RIDE SAFE.

My current Avon Cobra rear tire is approaching 21,000 miles and still has tread left. I keep it at 46 PSI cold. The front Cobra lasts about 25K. (42 PSI)

WOW! I would nearing the end of the third Cobra by 21000 miles. Still don't know how you guys do it. I even ran my Metz at 48 as per the dealer and got only 7000 out of it. front tires go about 17000.  Thinking about the 404 on the front of the I/S next time.

As a matter of fact i just came in from my garage. My I/S is up on the lift the front wheel is off and my replacement tire is a Dunlop 404 130-90-17 a rear tire on the front and i'm mounting in the proper rotation-NOT reverse rotation. Soon as i get 1000-1500 miles on the 404 i'll report back. RIDE SAFE.
