Standard 1999, 148,000.00 miles, it has the interstate computer. 6 into 6 cobra exhaust. I use to always get mid 30s and now i can't get 30! Can the timing be off? I also seems hot and this is only March. Just checked it yesterday and only got 25. I have not sync the carbs for about 100,000.
ideas?

Vacum leaks, dirty carbs, carb sync, plugs, heavy hand on the throttle. All these things can have an effect on mileage. I improved the mileage on my Interstate just by running a couple of tanks of fuel with seafoam in there. Just go down the lst, and then see how it's doing cooldude

Do a vacuum leak down test on the petcock. I would guess you have a holy diaphragm Smiley

Causes vacuum leak, insufficient opening (runs lean/hot) and bad mileage.

Riding style and wind direction is one of the obvious factors affecting mileage, ran 150 miles on four lane into a stiff headwind, keeping up with a couple hot shoe friends of mine today, running 80 to 85.  Got just under 30mpg when we filled, first time I ever got under thirty, this is a bike that can touch 40 mpg when conditions are different.  It was fun, though!  Hoser   Cool

I average 25-27. 1/2 town riding 1/2 highway. Used to get 30-31, then I did a carb overhaul....then my mileage went to hell. No idea why.

did you change gas type...such as from real gas to 10% ethanol?

Got drastically worse mileage in the midwest (Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska) on several occasions that seemed to be gas-related.

I get 30mpg having fun, and 35mpg at a cruising pace.
