Magnacharger Carb

Hi. I am installing a Magnacharger an 01' Vakyrie. Does anyone bother to use use the enrichener(choke)? It's a new gen with the 45 HSR Mikuni.
I ended up with a 22.5 pilot to get it to start and idle well but it starts well no choke/couple squirts of the accelerator pump. With the original pilot it stumbled, surged bad and stalled. Very erratic idle.

I assume that your carb is on the back of the blower and without a J-tube. I also assume that the pilot you refer to is the slo-jet. I started out with a 25 and went up to a 27.5 to get things right. I do have the choke installed and use is regularly. When it's warm out and/or the engine is warm (mainly the intake manifold) then little to no choke is required. However, in cooler or cold weather then the choke is mandatory! If you're using the ridiculously small air filter that comes in the Magnacharger kit for the HSR-45 (that's mounted on the back of the blower) and if it's clogged up then your engine will begin to run ridiculously rich and you many not need the choke. If that's the case then you'll get carbon fouling at slower speeds. This fix for this is to fabricate a new intake plenum tube so you can fit up a respectable air filter that your engine deserves. As you can tell I'm no fan of the OEM Magnacharger air filter.
Something does sound wrong though if you were running rich with the 25 slo-jet. Most have found the 27.5 to be the best. Could it be that your choke cable is not allowing the enrichener circuit to turn itself all the way off?

I don't know if this is of any value to you guys. But when I got my new MagnaCharger from Bill I know that the needle was modified and the main jet was drilled out and larger then the number on it.
