I believe any of the wheels from other years will fit. I do know the 97 front has a different set of bearings. And the offset on the rotors from other years may be different so you may need the brake setup for the year wheel you are going to use.
I can never remember from one day to the next all the details... I know that on Wimp's 97 the rotor
had to be shimmed for him to use his newer rim. It might be that if you have a newer bike, you can't
use an older wheel, since you can't "unshim" the rotor... when he and I were studying it,
we found what we thought was authoritative information by searching on the tech-board... it might
also be that if your wheel and rotor are from matching years, you're good-to-go no matter what
year bike you put the wheel on.
