I know! Not another tire "Q" But there are more than the Avons these days. What is the best tire for the $$? Good wear, ride, corner stick, wet grip, looks, U feel a good tire when you find one. I want the miles cause changing tires on the valk is major stuff!

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I voted for the Metz. This will be my 3rd Metz front and like it. I have a CT rear and really like it. Its great in the rain and wet surface. I do alot of highway riding so it should be good for me.

I didn't vote because I couldn't find the "right" answer. I like the
Metz front...but I have a car-tar rear. Didn't know if I could vote
for both of them. I currently am trying my first Avon Cobra up front.
I seem to like it, but not sure if I like it as good as the Metzeler.
Time will tell.

Well I had to vote to see the results.... and I voted Avon Venoms.   I was extremely surprised to see that the E3's are leading the way here.  I have had Metz's and they were nice, just wore out a bit quickly for me.  I had E3's and both front and rear wore out at less than 8K, and they never felt comfortable or smooth, plus the front E3 barely fit under the front fender of my VTX 1800R....  Even tho the size was the same as the Metzs I took off, the front E3 was at least an inch wider from what I recall.  Was not happy with E3s as you can gather, and I would be interested in hearing more info about the Shinkos......   Since my Valk and VTX take the same size tires (front and rear) I wouldn't mind getting a spare set to have at the ready.

I have run STinko's on my zuk Bandit, Eyabusa, MV Mastiff, and never had a complaint. They rock for the $. I have plugs now in front and rear Venoms with just too good a tread to change em! But ain't got the gumption to go too far from home on the IS. I haven't heard of a neg on the Shinko 747 except the one where they wondered and shook the front. I feel it was a bike thing. But not much of a following here I see. I guess the CT and your choice front is the ticket!

I run the Shinko on the front and CT on back, so far the Shinko is doing great, sticks well and wearing even. as you can see in this picture, tire has about 4,000 miles on it. Wearing well.

cooldude On ya for tryin the shinko's but you feel they still aren't worth a vote I take it! If they are half as good as they were on my other bikes, I'm tempted to give em a try! Till then Looks like the E3's are the sure bet. No note a shinko dealer!!! just a valk owner with good tread on both Venoms with plugs!! Undecided

Ok just noticed another expensive drywall screw and low front tire, so make that 3 plugs. The Valk picks up sharp objects like a redlite changer picks up H.D. parts! Not a thing in my other bikes tires! What gives here!

I ride a 98 Tourer and have E3's front and rear, I've gotten over 14k on the front and it needs changing. I've had the bike 4 years this Aug. and I don't think I've worn out a rear tire yet, I always seem to catch a nail  tickedoff I've had Metz 880's and E3's on it. Will probably put on another one on it when I have to change it, hopefully that will be when it wears out. I have thought about a 200 series Bridgestone or the new Cobra but I had an Avon on my V Star 1100 and didn't like the way it wore out, tire looked to have a lot of tread left but there was cord coming through in spots. I'll check prices and go from there, I can't talk Violet into going Darkside, scares her and I'm not sure about it myself but it would be cheaper.
