Rode over and had coffee with a riding buddy this morning. Riding over at 0800 it was 78deg. At 10 it 91 behind the windshield going home. We went from mid 80's to 100's in 72hrs. On days like this i like to watch the Deadlest Catch on the Decovery channel. Helps get your mind off the heat.

Nice picture Al, we sat a week in almost that very spot. Did some day cruises, looked back up the mountain and did some fishing. The Seward city campground is an oddity that "out of towners" get the benifit of more than the townsfolk. After Seward lost most of it's shoreline business buildings in the big earthquake of 1964 building along the right shoreline was stopped. That allowed prime land for a city campground. Camping was $10 a day in 2000.

The out of towners get to camp right on the shore and watch the sealife and Eagles move by, it's a very nice place to relax.

The campers can be seen along the shoreline, the city harbor is to the right side of the picture.

Raymond, very nice photo.
Mt. Marathon (trail going up it) will be busy this weekend as the 4th of July brings in runners to compete in running to the top and back to main street.
Here is what it looked like last winter. I rented this house for the crew, as we were on a project for Providence Hospital.

The camping area was across the street.

I tried to walk the trail to the top myself that year. After two hours of sliding in the mud just trying to clear treeline I gave up. It did bother me also that I had seen a momma black bear with two cubs in my binocs several times up there from camp.

I'd like to go back someday and spend more time. I didn't take the aerial picture, grabbed off the web.
