Dumb move this morn-- cold morn early morning ride -- started her up and forgot to unchoke-- drove about 20 miles wondering why she was sounding funny .  No idle-- all the stuff you might expect. Dumb question--did this cause any damage? ( s

NO, but ya might want to run the pee out of her for a few miles to get that excess carbon out of the cylinder heads from being way too rich.

Other than that, ride her like ya stole her.

Many do it from time to time, few admit it.  LOL

May carbon up your plugs a bit, but I've done it for 30-40 miles and no issue at all, other than the forehead smack.

No damage as noted.
I cannot believe anyone would publicly admit to doing that  Grin

Yep. I've done it too. Worried all day while working about Little Martha not running right on the way in. Soon as I walked out and saw her in the daylight I knew what I'd done. My friends think the palm print on my forehead is a tattoo.

Had a carb that was causing me problems, Loaded the gas with seafoam and ran it with the chokes on to get as much gas flow as possible. Seemed to work then had a hydrolock a week later. Cry

I had an old Renault years ago with one of the earliest automatic chokes that got stuck fully choked on a trip. Drove about 200 miles like that before  I could fix it, and there was no long term damage, but I did note that my oil clearly was diluted, lowering the viscosity. Presumably the mix was rich enough that unburned gas ran past the rings into the crankcase. If you're anywhere close to the mileage for changing your oil, might be a good idea to pull the trigger and change it now.

One thing about running it with the enricheners open longer than they should be and forgetting to close them...

it will stall out when it should be idling at the next stop sign.

The simple remedy here is to close them before starting it up again and wind it out for a few miles.  Cheesy

Wanted to name the scooter "Sky Dog" but it seemed like bad karma.

Although there are those who would disagree,

I feel it is not accurate to compare the enrichment system on the Valkyrie to a choke system.

They are two completely different systems and work in completely different ways.

And therefore, I feel that there is no way you can adjust the enrichment to be halfway on. I feel it is either "on" or "off". I know,,,, you can adjust the lever..... but, that's not doing what is thought!

Just my opinion.

Welcome to the 99% of Valkyrie owners who have left the choke on for too long. The previous owner of my Interstae must have done it a lot as the header pipes are discolored. No biggie, life goes on the Valkyrie runs another day.

All the best,

Mark
