I have a 2000 Interstate that I purchased last fall.  The previous owner seldom if ever used the radio.  I have been playing with it this winter getting used to the switches on the control.  I cannot switch from FM to AM.  It seems to be stuck on FM.  The volume and tuning switches were very slow to chane also, but are getting better the more I use them.  I was wondering about spraying contact cleaner trying to ger it in switches or does anyone have a better idea.

My controlled got rained on at InZane last year and the radio quit working. I just rode a few miles till it dried out and it worked fine. Sprayed a little cleaner on it and it's been working fine.

I sprayed contact cleaner in all the switches.  They loosened up and now everything works fine.
Thanks.

I think by the average normal today's instant gradification standards the controls on the radio are slow to respond.

I said slow not Won't change. Hold them for at least 2-3 seconds and see how that goes.

be VERY careful that the contact cleaner doesn't come in contact with some of the plastic, it might discolor it, or "melt" it.

I have two of these switches--one in operation and the other a spare.  COMPLETELY disassemble the switches from the housing and use a cotton swab with electronics spray to clean all surfaces and the electrical contracts.  Before reassembly, use dielectric grease and apply to all switch contacts to keep them lubricated and to repel water.

Furthermore, use a DMM or circuit continuity tester to confirm proper switch operation before reassembly.
