If you have identified a user whose posts you'd rather not see take the following steps.
1. Click on the "Profile" tab near the top of the page . 2. Under "Modify Profile" select "Personal Message Options" 3. In the box to the appears to the right enter the username(s) you'd like to ignore. Each username goes on a separate line. 4. Click on "Update Profile" near the bottom right of the page.
When you come across a post from someone on your ignore list you'll see where the text of their post would be a message indicating you are ignoring this user and a link to allow you to see the post anyway if you so choose.
The attention whores will scream that it's not fair or even cowardly for you to not read their invaluable drivel. They are incorrect. It is the right way to deal with someone you have deemed to be a message board troll.
If you're not sure who to ignore I can privately provide you a recommended list.

Thanks for the reminder Willow, I needed to update the troll list... Trolls today just don't have the same style, it's all in your face, no finesse... Here's a handy infographic to assist some of our younger more immature trolls on the fine art of forum trolling:

I've used that feature on a few people. It works!! Wonder if we could find out who is ignored the most? Kinda like an "unpopularity" contest.

I think the ignore list is a valuable tool to have at one's disposal but I have not had the need to use it yet. I get some sort of twisted pleasure in seeing some people reveal just how self involved and arrogant butt-holes they can be. I don't engage in conversations very often with these types as it's always counter-productive and I can always just skip over them when I've had enough amusement. I have to share this story on myself as I know I am on one persons ignore list on a Corvette board that I post on regularly. A guy from the New England area made a post wondering why anyone would want to own a Fixed roof coupe model of the Corvette. I happen to own one and it looks like this, I replied that given his choice of model to own that he had a less than mainstream selection and that maybe people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. this is his car, He immediately informed me of my transgression and that I was his first addition to his ignore list. I cried myself to sleep that night but I was over it by morning. I have since learned that there is one exception to the ignore list on the Corvette forum. If he makes a post and I quote it in a post I make, he can see it. I must admit I use that feature when I feel a little mischievous.

This should definitely be a "Sticky". However, I don't ignore post even by trolls. Everyone has an opinion even if they are retarded. It is what makes forums, ugh, interesting.

I'm with you Jack. I get entertained reading the really stupid stuff. I understand that decision and it's a good one. I'd never suggest that someone simply avoid those whose opinions differ from his own. There is a time, though, when one recognizes that a particular member regularly posts off-topic in threads with a single ax to grind or one posts regularly for the sole purpose of inflaming others. Sometimes these individuals are recognizeable in that they live near other members, but have never had any interaction with those members outside of the message board. Those are trolls and should be ignored either manually or with automation. It's my hope that if people will not engage or argue with trolls they'll lose interest and fade away. Perhaps I'm overly optimistic.

Is there a way to block only the photos posted by particular members, such as S*****y S*****r? Edit: Above comment edited so as not to identify anyone in particular.

We've been working very hard on a Stanley Steamer filter, but we're not experiencing much success. Our problem is in having the tool distinguish between the occasional legitimate motorcycle post and those which are definitely detrimental to the continued good mental and emotional health of the reader. We'll notify you if and when we're able to provide a working tool to meet your needs.

Having the Ignore feature is discriminatory unless you have a "cannot ignore" feature. some egos are just too big to fail. It's political now.

Clever. There is an option in which you can put an asterisk in your list and block all messages. Wouldn't that be appropriate for a few?

Having the Ignore feature is discriminatory unless you have a "cannot ignore" feature. some egos are just too big to fail. It's political now. And some posters have the ear of God and it is just sinful to ignore them, if you even can ignore that which God commands you don't ignore. There-now it's religious too.
