Here's the route I plan to take for GOTF

http://goo.gl/maps/mTGd0

This has a 8am departure from the Shell Station at Silverado Drive and 175.  Stop in Palestine for fuel, then continue to Woodville for a fuel stop plus lunch at the Tree restaurant. That's about 100 miles between each fuel stop. From there, on to Winnie for another fuel stop before continuing on towards the ferry running along the beach a while, then through Galveston and up 45 towards our lodgings.  Should pull in around 4PM.

Since there is no traffic to speak of in Houston, the plan is foolproof.

I will be looking for Hollyday, Buzzandy/Thagkill/etc, Timbo, PlaneCrazyGirl and maybe Disco.  We can discuss at the meeting the night before (yup, it will the the 2nd Thursday just before this).

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we'll probably join y'all for the ride down.    cooldude

I'd like to ride down with you guys if it's alright.

If I work too late Thursday night, I'll probably get up a little later and just make the haul down 45.

I plan to ride down with you all if that is okay.  I have been under the weather but I should be much better by them.

Can't wait!  But have to.....

The Spousal Unit and I are going to Galveston this weekend for the Kid's Festival at the Grand, where she will be performing.  We'll take the route this Friday as a pre-ride, but in the "Guppy" (Honda Fit) instead of the Valk. (Our Odyssey is the "Great White Whale").

Then we head to Round Rock for performances there before heading home Monday.

Looks like a good group.  Will try to minimize u-turns.

RainMaker

If you do that, how will they know they're following the right guy?

(Not that a low u-turn count would make them think you were another Mark riding a blue/silver I/S...)

I know, but only amateurs minimize.  Go for the gusto!

I think we can manage to make the long ride over to the Baker residence.  I may have to fuel up a few times to make it all 15 miles.

Hey guys, I'm having problems downloading the map to my Garmin.  It is not downloading Rainmaker's actual route, but instead is loading the route straight down 45.  Any ideas?  This is really getting frustrating!

It has 2 waypoints hard set, so not sure why it's not working.  But I'll take a look.

I'll send you the gpx file - maybe that will help.

I am going Friday with Mark but I will be in the cage so if anyone wants me to carry anything let me know.  I can get it from you during the week or on Thursday at Fuddruckers.

It is my 25th Anniversary and I plan to bring my wife to meet you all and see what the VRCC and GOTF is all about.

I am really looking forward to this weekend.

Hey folks. Gonna be using my Spot Tracker for this trip.  There is a public website people can use to "follow" us on our journey in real time, minus 5 minutes.  The mom-in-law likes us to us it so she can keep an eye on us, equal parts boredom, concern, and being a spy.  If anyone wants a link to the site PM me and I'll get it to you.  Seeya tomorrow at the meeting and or Friday way to early.
