VRCC # 30180 I can fix anything BUT Stupid

Orlando,Fl

« on: April 01, 2013, 01:51:24 PM »

Hello out there this is my 1st post on the forum. I just bought a 2001 I/S red and black with 55K on her off ebay # 1330872234543 if you like to see her.  This is not my 1st Valkyie - I had a like/same bike about 3 years ago and have missed it since. I lost the I/S in a turn on Bugger Hollow RD and I got all Buggerd Up too. Roll Eyes. When out and got a 08 ST1300 for a replacement - Love her but have space for the Fat girl too. Love the 2001 red and black paint.
Anyway the seller said he found it here on this forum for sale. Said the owner was from the Orlando area. Re was to resell it oversea and the deal di not go down . So would like to talk from the Orlando Owner, as he was not to up to date on what was done to her(timing Belt, Mods).
Any taking the grayhound down to west plam on wed to picker her up and rider her home.
Buy the way looks good that to guys are doing a Ride's on the weekend will have to join in when I get her up to speed.

Can't help with the owner information, but welcome Dave.  Hope to see you soon at a ride for lunch.

Welcome David. I'm Jeff and I'm in Apopka. I have a '99 Green and Silver I/S, the fastest color by the way. I don't recall a R/B I/S but John, who will undoubtedly see this and post, may. He has been in Winter Park and a Valk owner for a long time and may know who the PO of your bike was. Welcome again and we hope to see you riding with us soon.

The bike doesn't ring a bell with me. Strangely enough, there are a number of Valk riders in this area that know nothing of the VRCC, or just simply don't want to be a part of it. That may be the case with that bike. Regardless of what any PO tells me, I would go over a new purchase with a fine tooth comb....axle to axle. That way you know for certain what you have and the condition it's in.

Thank you all hope to meet you all at some lunchen soon. Maybe at or on the way to Inzane if I can make it in time some work ahead.

Well got info on bike's PO was "Kaiser" out of Gansville he sold it last Nov.

The bike still had the gas he put in it last year sometime. This was not my 1st Rodeo on picking up a bike untested came armed with the Seafoam. The tank was half full of gas & the bike started/ran great at idel, mid range, and hard excelleration (all those button up top and no spell check - wish I could spell!). Put some Seafoam in the tank as it was not a opption to remove old gas.  I had to be at work at 2pm in Orlando and I was in Boyton Beach still checking bike out at 10:30.
Went to N95, not a problems till I hit about 1/8th tank near Port St Luice. Started to lose power, at full thottle only do 3700RPM 70mph, but was still running smooth, not overheating, no smoke. Pulled into BP put seafoam and Topped off with Premuim gas, seemed to come back to life. But later when cruzing down the interstate it slowly starts to lose power 3500 to 4000rpm tops 70MPH, the thottle last 3rd with not responce! If I back out of it and come back hard on it with will come back and keep going (hold On). I'm thinking the floats are sticking, as if I hard bank the bike or wiggel her it will start to pick up (found out in turning onto 528 from 95). Well be clean the carb this weekend and changing all the fluids just to make sure I Know what has been done.
Thanks David

I remember Kaiser.  Seemed to me like it was maroon and black though.  I think he took good care of it before he sold it.

I'm Sure he took great care of it as it show's. Other than the bad Gas which was not his fault his ( I bought if from a transporter that was to ship oversea and the deal did not go down) this is going to be a great bike.

Terry's right, I recall it being one of the rare maroon on black versions. Limited production but don't remember the numbers, not a regular red/black. He wasn't from Orlando however, believe it was somewhere around Gainesville. Nice folks in any case. Glad you got it, hate to see a good rarity go overseas.  cooldude

Dave Kaiser was the previous owner of a Beautiful Sedona Red and Black Interstate and he lives in Gainesville,Fl. If that is the Interstate that you now own,it is a Nice One.Hope you get the Carbs Clean  and look forward to meeting you at one of the Q's.

I have a bike like Kaisers.  We got together a couple winters ago.  Great guy, you got a good bike. It is 01 IS, called reverse red, as the red and black are kind of in reverse places than the regular red/black.  Pearl Dark Red/Black.  It is rarest US model, at only 160 made.  01 only.

Usually slows clog, so hard to understand losing power wide open.

I wonder if the petcock diaphram is starting to fail?  That will cause those symptoms.
