This is on the wife's Shadow.
I emptied the caliper, master cylinder, & line out as there was nasty fluid in it. Pushed the pistons back into the caliper then reassembled the whole thing, filled it with fresh fluid & proceeded to bleed the system. Bled & bled for about 20 minues, dozens of times & nothing. I've bled many bike brakes before & never had this problem. Very simple single caliper system on this bike. Every time I pump it up I get a little dribble out of the bleeder but no resistance or pressure from the handle.
What am I doing wrong? I've never had to use a vacuum pump before.

Did you re-bleed the master cylinder after cleaning out all the old fluid?

Whenever I drain the whole system, I hook a big syringe
to the bleed screw and "prime" the system by pulling
some fluid down from the master cylinder... then pumping
works like normal...

Lets just make sure you're covering the basics. Fill system, close bleeder, pump, hold lever, open bleeder, close bleeder, release lever, pump, keep repeating.

It's easier to force bubbles up than it is to force them down through the system. Your "stuck" air bubble is most likely at the banjo fitting on the master cylinder.

+1 on the banjo fitting. Had that problem once and had to loosen the banjo fitting in order to "burp" that bubble. Bled just fine after that. |

I'm such a dork sometimes  . Went back out to the garage & took off the m/cyl cap, cracked open the banjo fitting at the caliper & let it drip down until about half the fluid was gone from the m/cyl. Proceded to bleed as normal.... some times I wonder about myself.     Running & almost done! |
