Hello: I am noobie, just bought my 2001 black and silver Standard in beautiful condition with 51,000 kms (30,000 miles) and feel daunted by this huge machine after being very comfortable on an 805 cc Suzuki Boulevard cruiser. Unfortunately I do not have the Owner's Manual. I don't want to fix anything. I just want to make sure I know how everything operates! I searched high and low for an owners manual pdf and such a thing does not appear to exist. Can you help me out? Thanks for your patience. Ian Lethbridge, Alberta

Hi from Edmonton! When I got mine 3 years ago I searched online for months and finally found an Owner's Manual for a 2001 Interstate (mine's 99, but there is no difference). Keep looking, there are sites that specialize in manuals and their stock is always changing. Fred.

Gentlemen,
Mr. Maclachlan is looking for a manual on how to ride a Valkyrie not repair one.
Mr. Maclachlan, contact your insurance company and ask if they can refer you to a riding training class. The classes are typically a 2 day class, and in the end you usually end up with your motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license, and you usually get a break with your insurance. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure he's looking for the owner's manual, you know, the little book that comes in a little plastic bag and fits behind the battery (on Standards and Tourers anyway).

I have one but ashamed to admit I have never looked at it. I keep it in a Ziplock bag inside one of my saddlebags in case I ever need it though

Well, the manual tells you how to start it! As far as how to ride it, there are books and classes available, but it is NOT from Honda and the Valkyrie! How does one buy a Valkyrie, one of the biggest and fastest cruiser/tourer bikes out there, and has no idea how to start a motorcycle, or how to ride one? ??? MP

I have a PDF of the Honda Owners Manual for 1997 GL 1500C Valkyrie/Tourer Manual that I emailed to maclachlan.
I'd love to get the 1999 Interstate Honda Owners Manual if any one has one to match my exact model. Sometimes I'm at my computer and it would be helpful to look up something.
I already have the 1997-2003 Service manual and Carl Kulow's maintenance manual.

I could be wrong here (Lord knows, been that before ), but reading what I read, I'm reading into it that he's rode before (specifically "an 805 cc Suzuki Boulevard cruiser") and he's just wanting to familiarize himself with the Valk and it's switches, controls and whatnot.

Obviously I need to explain myself in greater detail. I have been riding for about five years after a 30 year hiatus, I did indeed take and pass a course and I cut my teeth on a Boulevard C50 (805cc) before buying a Valkyrie. But my C50 has no choke, no reserve, no fuel shutoff, no hydraulic clutch or clutch fluid reservoir, no rear brake fluid reservoir, no trip meter reset knob, no twin rear shock absorber adjustment and no side stand indicator light. I thought it might be better to read an ordinary owner's manual than to guess about these operating features of a motorcycle that is unique. Thanks for the helpful responses, Ian Lethbridge, Alberta
