New Valk Owner here, actually I pick it up Sunday afternoon. It's a 2000 Interstate, Red and Black. I'm upgrading from a 98 1100 ACE Tourer. I've been looking for a Valkyrie, but wanted the Interstate because I wanted the comfort for my bride, carrying capacity for travel, and of course the power. I had toyed with the idea of an older GW, but when this one came along for 8K, I couldn't pass it up. It has some nice additions and is in great shape. Has 43K miles on it, I'll be the third owner, same as with my ACT Tourer. The first owner was a Marine Colonel. Hope this is a good sign.

We're not quite halfway through the riding season here in NC, but I lost part of it waiting on parts for the Tourer, the charging system went south.

So let me know what I need to know to keep this thing running, good looking, and up on two wheels.

What part of NC are you from?
I'm from Iron Station (outside of Gastonia, Charlotte, etc).  Our riding season is 12 months out of the years or fairly close to it. We'll have to get together when I get back to NC. I'm up in PA this summer.
welcome aboard.

Welcome aboard. And as far as maintenance, filler up and twist the throttle. Of course the guys over on the tech board can fill ya in on anything gone amiss.

To learn a lot; click on "shop talk" and start reading in the links there. Too much to learn on the forum.

Welcome, Rick. My wife talked me into a more comfortable bike (had to twist my arm) back in 2001. I had my eye on the I/S for a while and it was/is a perfect fit. With 43,000 miles on yours, to don't have to do too much riding before she is broken in. LOL.
Be safe and enjoy!!

I'm in E-City, just west of the Outer Banks, near the Virginia border. I took my 1100 Tourer up to the Blueridge with some buddies last fall, I'm kind of a flatlander but i had a blast there. Wonder how the Valk would do there? Wink
Anyway, I hope top get out west with this thing.

How does the Valk do up on the parkway? Beautifully, and if you throw something more challenging at it like the snake, the dragon, or the pocket it still does beautifully.

Valks and roads of just about any kind are a good marriage:

Enjoy the ride.

cooldude ! Welcome to the Brotherhood !  cooldude

And don't worry about the VALK, just make sure that she has good tires and fresh oil.

Then go out and "Ride it Like You Stole It".

To answer your Q! Tires that aren't flat and lots of polish applied with elbow grease.

Hey Rick!

Welcome.  The most important thing about keeping your cycle healthy is it’s blood, the oil!!  Use a good synthetic that is compatible for your tranny and don’t skimp out on the oil filter.  Do a search on the Tech board, there’s some good reading there!
