Wife and I did 825 miles this weekend all in south Texas went to Corpus Christi tour the Lex, Lockheart ate great BBQ at two different places, San Marcos to do a little shopping, and Bastrop toured the State park and lake, and back to Huffman . At times running 70mph I could not put my hand on the top of the tank because it was so hot. We had a great time but the heat was killer. Today on the way to work at 4pm bank sign read 105. I'm ready for a cold front and some rain.

I'm looking for at least a 90 degree high before I call it a cold front.

102F in the DFW area yesterday and the same predicted today. High 70's just now (5:20am CDT). We are leaving now for a ride but will be back home before the heat becomes oppressive. We think a short ride is a good deal better than no ride at all. We trudge on.

Yup, its a scorcher here in northern New Mexico too. Temps running in the mid to low 70's, had to take a trip down the mountain and stop off at Harry's Roadhouse along the Old Las Vegas Hwy for a buffalo burger, a slab of fries and a slice of home made coconut cream pie. Whew! That helped, I think I'll be O.K. now.

102 in the shade yesterday and we were putting a tin roof on a shed with a 12 on 12 pitch. Four of us drank about 5 gallons of water, several gatoraids each, lemonade, etc. We made it though and nobody had to rock me to sleep at 7pm. Whew.

Two truckloads of hay this weekend, 41 bales each time. Sort of doesn't seem like that much in the picture, but it seemed like a lot while we were loading it onto the truck in the field, and when we were unloading it into the barn We did the second load at 7:30am, not much shade in the hay field, but still plenty in our little fields... plus it wasn't but 80 or so... Dew got on the bales that stayed in the field all night, so we had to lay them out to bake in the sun few hours before we stacked them in the barn (extra handling) but it was better than collecting and loading them in the midday sun... Carolyn had a new way to palletize them so that they were all secure in the truck with one rope. -Mike
