I went yesterday to the motorcycle salvage yard to retrieve a throttle sleeve for my Valkyrie.  (Some klutz had broken the old one doing switch repair.)  I was appalled to find a Red and Black Interstate sitting in the yard getting ready to waste away.

The wreck was an Arkansas Red and Black.  Damaged appeared to be to the left front.  Fairing was trashed along with much of the front left side.  What struck me was how much appeared to be still good on the bike.

Here's a short list of what I could see:

The trunk is perfect.
Bags and mounts are good except for a crack in the left bag.
It has a CB.
Radio antenna is good, but the CB antenna is bent.
Right pod appears to be intact.
Right engine guard appears to be good.

The salvage yard isn't cheap, but his prices seem to be pretty much in line with going rates.

I just hate to see all this good Valkyrie stuff sitting out there wasting away.

How much for the trunk?

Email me or PM me and I'll hook you up.  I really should be careful not to let the general message board become a place to list prices and do business.

I'll be out the rest of today, but I'll get back to you or anyone within a day or so.

Incidentally, I did ask him that question.

I wonder if he'd sell the bike (less throttle sleeve) with a salvage title?
that would make one heck of a project. Not by me, because I'm a broke college student without time again. But somebody could have some fun with her.

Probably not a good idea, IV, for two rerasons:

1.  The front end is trashed on the left.  Any number of hidden issues could be there from he frame.

2.  A wrecked bike is worth a lot more in parts than as a salvage project.

Best bet if one wished to rebuild a totaled Valkyrie is to find one that was totaled for plastic (or ABS) damage.
