Hey everone,

I just got a 1999 I/S with 20.000 miles on it a few month ago. The front brake lever has a drag in it. The brakes work fine and the color of the brake fluid looks light yellow. Its not much of a drag but I think that it should be no drag at all. Its kind of free-bind-free-bind-free.... all the way in. The binding is not much but you can feel it in your hand, not in the brakes.

Oh and by the way, I can,t stop giggling when it I ride this beast. Does this giggling feeling ever go away?

Try pulling the pin/screw that hold the lever on and lubing the bushing/contact points on the lever. They do dry out.

+1

Also, if someone used gorilla strength to tighten the acorn nut on the underside, it can bind the lever.

And sometimes the lever pivot brass bushing gets worn or out of round... and needs replaced.

New Kury levers or lube the ones you have. I'll have owned mine 3 years at the end of June 2013 put over 36000 miles on it already and STILL have the Grins and Giggles every time I ride her-EVERYTIME.  cooldude Guys and Gals have had theres longer than I have had mine and it's an affliction that comes with the Valkyrie.  Grin Oh-and B T W-there is NO KNOWN cure.  Wink At times I go nucking futz waiting for the weather to clear so I can ride.  crazy2 RIDE SAFE.

I will check the pivot point on the lever. Thats a good idea.

Week after next I'm going to take her with some friends from my home around Asheville NC down to Birmingham AL and back. Right now I'm traveling for work. I'm in NH this week and will be in WI nextweek. I will fly home for the bike trip and back to WI. One of my friends that is riding with us asked what route were we going to take. I said go a little west then a little south and adjust as needed until we get there.

I have only about 200 miles on her so far. I got her down in FL a few months ago on a business trip. Had to leave her down there with my brother until I could get her back home on a trailer. I was traveling across FL on hwy 50 then hit I-75 south. Some 4 wheels were going about 85 mph so I fell in behind them. I started to feel like she was following a crack in the road with a little wobble. Then I heard the pitch of the tire on the road change. I then knew it was a tire going down. That last 300 feet she went from smoove as silk to a bucking bronco. Anyway no harm done eccept for the tire. Picked her up on my next business trip. Changed the tire, checked the final drive and drive shaft. Changed the final drive oil. Everthing that I have checked so far looks like it has been well serviced.

Grins and Giggles huh: Only two vehicles ever made my butt muscles tighten up when I started them. My '65 Sunbeam Tiger with a heavily modified motor and the Valk.

Sunbeam Tiger !?  A great little car, another Kenny Miles creation. They are starting to bring some big money.
