Sounds like the screen on the old petcock didn't come out when you removed the petcock. That's the first thing I'd check.

Did you take the old screen out from the stock petcock? Sometimes you have to grab if with a pair of needle nose pliers.

yes, the old one is out. I pulled it out with needle nose pliers. The pingel goes in i 1/2 then stops.

What was the part # on that Pingel you got?
Seems to me they said they had 3 part #'s when I bought mine.
