Hello Gents! I have been away a while! My yellow and cream Lady met a sad tragic ending I will relate to you all in the near future. When I get over the loss.
But the good news! She has been replaced by a 2001 Black and Chrome Valk with only 8400 miles! Excellent condition with little to no mods done on her. The riding weather hasn't arrived here in Maine yet, but I did get a short 15 mile ride on her bringing her home. She handles beautifully and felt great in my hands. But! I thought I detected some vibration in the frame that only occurs when cornering with some possible weak grinding feel to the vibration. The first thing that popped into my head was possible bearings either front or back end. The only thing I have done so far is pull the front brake calipers and checked the pads and that everything was sliding properly on the pins. I have yet to pull anything major apart on her, but I find myself wondering if it is possible for there to be any bearing problems considering the very low miles on her. She has always been garage kept and was ridden by an older gentleman who would definite not have abused her. No corrosion anywhere on her and she looks like she left the dealers show room last week! I am hoping for any suggestions I should check into. The only other thing I can add to the bikes condition is that it did sit for a long time once that lead to clogged carbs. The PO had the carbs pulled cleaned synched a short while back. Looking forward to your replies!

Sounds like a great bike, the black ones are known to be the best. What comes to mind first is the condition of the tires. When my tires get worn they start to humm/vibrate in turns. On your bike the upper shock bushing are probably dried out too.

I wouldn't think a bearing would be bad with that low of mileage but you never know.
I had a new 2001 black and chrome that had that vibration and noise from the 1st mile.
I had Dunlop D-206 tires put on my current 1999 black and chrome Valk when I bought it.
It also vibrated when cornering and made that annoying noise. I put Avon cobras on it a
while back and It's not near as bad. They took about 80% of the vibration and noise away.
With the Dunlop's on it I thought something was about to fall off of it.

Hmmm, the tires are definitely something to consider! I should have thought of that! It has a Metzeler on front and Dunlop on the back. The front has lots of tread left but the back will be needing replacement soon (It is possible that the rear is the original!). I will probably go back to a car tire on the rear like my last Lady and I to prefer the avons on the front. Right now I think I will ride it as is for a bit and monitor the vibration. Thanks for the replies, I will keep watching for more!

If it were me, I would pull the rear tire and wheel, and inspect the bearings, grease eveything, and check the u-joint. For no more time than it takes, peace of mind. And with low miles, anything wrong will not have time to damage anything else

In addition to the comments about tires. Did the PO have the front tire off? Could be the proper reassembly procedure wasn't followed. FWIW

Actually after the Black Valk they came out with the new improved faster Black and Silver. That is little known fact that has not been published much.

Just finished pulling the front wheel off and inspecting and reinstalling properly. I found nothing wrong and appeared to be installed properly. Now I know it is done right having done it myself! I do believe it is good advice to go ahead and pull the rear and grease it right now before anything can get worse if there is a problem. That's where I will be for this afternoon! Thanks for the thoughts guys! Sures feels good to be turning wrenches on another Valk!
