Hello Ladies and Gents! I haven't been here in over 5 months  Cry  It hasn't been by choice life has been so busy here I sometimes wonder how I find time to sleep. There have been ups and downs I  I would like to relate them to you. I will try to be brief as the list is a bit long.

When I came to Maine is was to be with Judy and enjoy our middle years and beyond together. Our plans are the same but with a passenger. Judy's Granddaughter is now ours to raise and enjoy and be slaves to! LOL Her Son's family problems and troubles with both parents have lead to Judy being her legal and full guardian till she is 18.. She is four and has now been with us for a year. Talk about a change of life!! Never thought I would be playing the roll of Daddy again at 53!!

Lost my yellow and cream Lady Valk first week of November. I was driving her 12 miles to winter storage when at mile 11 she started to cut out backfire. Couldn't keep her running so pulled over, looked down and the whole carb bank was on fire!!!!!!! There was nothing I could do but get off and away, call 911 and cry as I watch her burn. The tank exploded, then the rear tire exploded and she burned violently hot till the firemen arrived and put her out. I believe the line line started a slow leak which lit off the engine heat and was burning while I rode and damaged the petcock so fuel would shut off. After I was off the bike the fuel kept flowing and fueling the fire. I was crushed.
But beyond it all my Lady Judy was there and assured me we must have another bike for this coming summer.

Then the Monday before thanksgiving my Mom passed away from a stroke. She was 72 and we all thought she had another 20 left to go. That kind of Lady. My Dad, brother and I were lost. I flew down the be there the morning of Thanksgiving and stayed with my Dad till the following Saturday and flew back to Maine. My Dad is doing well now, but it has been very rough they were married 55 years. He is now traveling to visit family in Mich.

Now some good news. December Judy and I gave up apartment life and bought a house. 3 bedroom 2 car garage Ranch style. We love the place and are slowly making it ours.  Smiley

Now the really good news! Judy and I have now got a new ride! A 2001 Black and chrome Valkyrie with only 8400 miles on it in Excellent shape!!! Now I am working to find the time to do a good maintenance check on her and then be ready for riding weather!! Going to take some time to get some basic goodies back! I need a stereo!! LOL  laugh

Enough typing for now.

John our thoughts are with you and Rita.

off to read the board and try and catch up!!  Cool

Scott, so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom.
Your grandson is lucky that you and the Mrs. stepped up to the plate. My hat is off to you both.
I can't imagine a worse feeling than watching the Valk burn... OMG that must have been painful. I wish you luck with the new Valk, and if you find yourself down around Plymouth Ma. this summer, look me up and I'll take you on a great ride...
Off to Montreal tomorrow.... freaking snowed there yesterday !

Hey Scott, good to hear from you. Often wondered how you were doing up yonder. Remember what I said about those Maine winters; ten months of winter and two months of poor sledding.  2funny

Glad to hear things are starting to take a turn for the better, I didn't have a real great year last year either. Stay in touch.

Hi Scott,

I'll add my sympathies for the passing of your Mom. Though she left much too early, she is now in a better place. It's great what you and your lady are doing for her Granddaughter. She is fortunate that you both have enough love and compassion to give up many things to be parents to a young one again.

I'll echo what John says about Maine. We were both stationed at Loring Air Force Base, although he about 35 years before me  Roll Eyes (Just kidding John!!!  Embarrassed)

Where in Maine are you? My wife is from Fort Kent , and we have relatives all over the state from Yarmouth to Bangor, to Fort Kent Embarrassed. Beautiful state for riding, when the snow is gone, and then the black flies, and then the Mosquitoes (geez, I thought the B52s left when Loring closed - oh, never mind, those are the mosquitoes not B-52s. But not to worry, the mosquitoes don't stay long, because the frost and snow kills them soon enough.  Grin  Evil  Grin  Evil  Grin. Obviously I'm just kidding (well, just a little anyways). But the slogan - "Maine, the way Life outta be!" sure is true. I do love the place, and have quite a few customers in Sanford, Biddeford, Kennebunk, Farmington, etc.

Maybe we can meet up some time. We'll be going back up North in early May!

Be safe, and welcome back to the Board, Pete K.
