The Bosses

Florida's Emerald Coast

« on: April 19, 2013, 06:23:12 PM »

Out of PCB early tomorrow(Saturday) morning and headed to Fort Lauderdale. Route pretty much set in stone now thanks to the feedback from so many of you. Overnight tomorrow night east of Tampa, then into Fort Lauderdale Sunday. Gonna be a great ride. But then again, even a jaunt to the grocery store is a great ride on my Valk! See you all on the south side!

Travel safe, and enjoy the ride. If you are wet, at least it won't be freezing!

Thanks all. Made it into Lakeland around 5 pm local time. Great ride and I stopped in Chiefland to eat at Bill's BBQ! I was a couple weeks late so what. After leaving Bill's it rained until I got south of Crystal River. No biggie...my Frogg Toggs took care of that little issue. Chill in Lakeland tonight then the rest of the way to Fort Lauderdale tomorrow.

Rolled into Ft. Lauderdale around 2:30 Sunday afternoon. Another great leg of an excellent all round ride down. My phatty performed just like she is supposed to. Biggest question was the roads on the east side of Lake Okeechobee. Hwy 441 was an excellent ride down to Pahokee. Got a little rough because of construction from Pahokee south into Belle Glade. Here for 3 weeks so I'll have plenty of time to plan a route going home. Thinking seriously about just tooling up A1A and ride the beach.
Thanks again to everyone that offered advice and routing suggestions.

Glad you made it safely! The cooler temps Saturday had to be nice - other than the bit of rain. Enjoy your time in the southern part of the state. Keep us posted on your adventures!

Happy to hear you had a safe trip.  Next time, plan in a little lag time and make a few stops along the way.  Always happy to run into town and grab a bite to eat with a fellow Valk rider and talk about some of the areas attractions.

Will do F6...this was pretty much a get going and get there trip. I had just gotten back from Rio de Janeiro 2 days before I headed out to Ft. Lauderdale.
