dynatek 3000 settings

just installed a dynatek 3000 on a 03 standard with 9 thousand miles on it I run premium gas it has a K&N air filter no prefilter has full desmog  pingle petcock iridium plugs stock pipes #38 slow jets stock main jets no over aggressive riding so where should my settings start out with it starts up and idles fine it has stock trigger wheel redline setting is at 8 grand don't think I will need it higher any ideas what the other setting should be set at ? oh and the ground wire is not connected at this time

Do you have the Dyna two-page manual? I can scan it for you - let me know. Your bike is pretty close to stock so Dyna curves 1-5 should work according to the manual. Curves 6-8 add even more early timing advance for bikes with aftermarket pipes and jets. Curve 9 is never discussed and looks to be an unusual and very special case.

Curve 1 is our stock curve.
Curve 2 keeps more advance through the mid rpm's and then follows the stock curve after 6500 rpm.
Curve 3 keeps this extra advance all the way to 9500 rpm.

If you work up to curve 3 or beyond, then be very aware and listen for pre-ignition (detonation) and back off on the advance curve if it's happening. Premium gas is probably required for the higher curves but maybe not at curve 3 and shouldn't be needed with curves 1 & 2. The white ground wire is not needed in your case so leave it ungrounded.

A very easy way to see if you are having a Pinging situation, ride the bike, when ya get home shut off the engine as quick as ya can and then pull a couple or 3 plugs, get at least one on each side.

Now look at the bottom of the plug for little aluminum BALLS.    If you have these balls, you are pinging.

My engine has been ported, polished and relieved, I'm still running 98 octane no problem.   By the way, up here in the real God's country, I'm running Gasohol, and have been for over 240K.

I've run curve 5 on 87 octane for 140,000 miles.  It works well for me.

I have the rev limiter set at 7500.

I've still got mine set at 3 & running 87 octane.....Willow said I needed to try 5...I was told one time if my goob was longer that sex would be better....my reply to both is that if it got any better, I don't know if I could stand it...
