Want to thank all who helped change my cycle tire to a car tire on sat at Pam and Dave Fette's home.  I appreciate all the help very much.  The ride home was great.  Couldn't tell much difference in the ride.  I will have to do an adjustment as it looks as if it is rubbing on the fender.  We had a wonderful time visiting with friends.  A beautiful day, wonderful hospitality, and superb food.

Where is it rubbing at? What is your shock settings at Gary? And I agree Grandmas Dave and Pam know how to host a good weekend and put out a spread! Wish I could have stayed all weekend.

IIRC, you where going with a 65 tire. that tire will rub the wire connector clip on the fender... so you might have to run your sock a bit harder.

When i first put that tire on, i had a sidewall rub.  On my tire, it was just enough that after 100 miles it had just roughed up some of the cold air pressure warnings on the sidewall. It turned out to be the fender bolt. I turned it around, cut the head down some, and run the shocks on 5.  No more problems.

I like the bit taller tire for running down the road for sure. Now that I have a trailer I pull on longer trips, i think i will go back to a 60 next time.
I have almost 8k on mine ( the life of the E3 i replaced it with) and i have just noticeable wear at 37 lbs, 2 up riding almost all the time.

I did the washer mod but haven't ridden it yet to see if it would work.  It rubbed on the way home from Dave's on sat and the shock was set on 4 with just one person riding.  I have changed shock setting to 5 now.  Hopefully I will get to ride tomorrow and check out how it does. Thanks for everyone's input. John, it was rubbing on the right side where I cut the nut cage off.

I have a Falken Ziex ZE-512 205/65R-16 on mine that has rubbed since I put it on 22K miles ago. Just some lettering gone and a dark black stripe on the right side. I can't find out just where or when it rubs. I keep an eye on it but it doesn't worry me anymore.

thats what mine was doing, turned out to be the forward bolt.  i had a nut on mine as the nutsert was stripped when i got it, but thats exactly what mine was doing, just touching every once in a while, but some grinder adjustments, and its all better now.

you have no reason to go the DS, that has been stated in every DS page that has been.... I have no reason to go back.

I respect your decision to run the dunlops on your bike, and I am impressed with the milage you get out of them for sure. But, I bet you a set of tires, you take that same pair of tires you run on your bike, and you put them on my bike, they are already in the trash before 10k.  Im fat, ride 2 up, pull a trailer, love the throttle, and not afraid of the brakes.  My riding style is very very hard on a back tire.  My car tire is at half life or better, and already has more miles on it than my last dunlop, and cost half as much.

I am hoping i can get 20 k out of my car tire, but i dont know if i will or not yet. The road surfaces around my house are horrible for eating up tires as well. On the wifes van and my truck we buy 50-60k tires, and might get 30k out of them and companies will not warranty them due to the chip and seal roads we run.  Well, the bike runs those same roads, and between it and these grooved concrete super-slabs, it just burns my tires off everything.

When this front tire is burned up, i plan on trying a bias dunlop on the front of my bike, double DS and see what kind of mileage i can get out of it.  As a whole, im seldom impressed with dunlop, goodyear, or kumho anymore, and as a rule, dont buy them often.

Sounds like you are very well suited to the darkside.  If I were in the same boat I would use them too.  But we all have different needs, and riding styles. Hoser   cooldude

I am getting ready to order a new front for my IS, I have 20k on the D404 Rear tire. I was very happy with it. Thinking about trying one of the other options like the Shinko just to compare.

Unless you can get the Shinko in a rear tire for the front, i dont think you are going to be happy.  I dont know what kind of mileage i have total on mine yet, but i am very sure i will not 20k out of it.

Then again, i dont think i will get 20k out of my falken 512 either.  These crap tackular roads we have around here together with being heavy handed is hard on tires here.
