Radiator and fan. When I replaced mine, the worst part was getting the radiator hoses off and back on. Also the bolts that hold the thermostat housing did not come out easly. I had to turn them out 1/2 turn then back in 1/2 turn. Repeat. repeat and repeat, until I got them out without stripping the threads. There is a small hole in the base of the thermostat that must face toward the rear when you reinstall.

Also if you are going to go throuh all that you might as well order the special funny shaped 0-rings so you can re do the waterpipe fittings

I recommend you by the OEM gasket. I bought the thermostat from Auto Zone, Duralast # 15868 for $8.99. There have been threads here on this subject, so far so good in the operation. Not sure why the orientation of the bleed hole is important and don't really remember if I paid attention to this. Oops. It is working fine.

To be honest I don`t know why the bleed hole must be oriented to the rear. However that`s what the repair manual states.

The hoses are hard to get on. A little soap or dielectric grease may help to get them to slide on.

+1  cooldude ...

My bike came with a ratty looking braided main radiator hose.

I took it off, don't remember if that was hard or not. But when I put the new
one on, it went on just so far and that was all she wrote...  I wish it had gone
on a little further, and some kind of lube would have allowed for that, but it
has been on for years now with no trouble...
