Got a leak on my rear caliper & one of the pistons is stuck pretty bad. Rick {Flask} has a ready to go good caliper from his '99 Interstate that he can sell me. I checked the Honda parts fiche & the part numbers are different on the caliper, pads & rotor between the '99 I/S & the '97 Tourer. I am in the car parts biz & I know that sometimes even if the part # is different the part still can work.
Has anyone ever used an I/S rear caliper on a Tourer?

I think I am right about this.
You will need a 99 disk to go
with it.
They changed the disk in 98 or 99

They're very different, completely different pistons for example. That's doesn't mean for sure
the units aren't interchangeable, but I didn't even try after I saw how different they were...

change the rotor, caliper, and be sure and get the flush rotor bolts.

This is what one of the salvage yards told me when I was looking.

When he would not guarantee the rotor wasn't warped, I went with new EBC rotor and pads.....

Why not just rebuild the caliper...you can get a kit from Honda and check the link in the temp board tech section for the how too's...easy job...you'll need two kits, one kit for each piston, just clean up the piston with 0000 steel wool or a very fine sand paper, something that will not leave any scratches....just follow the repair manuel guide lines.

I'm wondering why the interstate calipers are no longer available?
According to the parts microfiche, you can still buy the tourer calipers.
Might wan't to pick up a few spare rear interstate calipers off the bay, if you guys plan on keeping your bikes long term. ???
